WRESTLING: Zuniga, Rivas post first-period pins for Mustangs

Shadow Ridge’s Javier Zuniga and Eli Rivas each posted a first-period pin Wednesday as the Mustangs defeated visiting Cimarron-Memorial, 33-22.

Zuniga won his match at 106 pounds, and Rivas posted a pin at 152 for Shadow Ridge.

Shadow Ridge 61, Las Vegas 12 — At Shadow Ridge, David Word (120), Rivas (152), Kevin Henry (195) and Tyler Carter (285) posted first-period pin as the Mustangs rolled past the Wildcats.

Zuniga (106), Jarret Gledhill (170) and Cameron Reese (182) also won by fall for Shadow Ridge.

Antonio Saldate (113) and Mauricio Jimenez (220) won by pin for Las Vegas.

Shadow Ridge 60, Mojave 15 — At Shadow Ridge, Word (120), Jamison Rand (145), and Carter (285) had first-period falls to help the Mustangs beat the Rattlers.

Francisco Martinez (113), Rivas (152), and Gledhill (170) also won by pin for Shadow Ridge.

Dominic Mota (106) and Marion Shelton-Poindexter (160) had pins for Mojave.

Cimarron-Memorial 45, Las Vegas 34 — At Shadow Ridge, Jesse Saavedra (132), Andrew Bonifaz (138) and Nathaniel Garcia (220) each pinned their opponent in less than a minute to lead the Spartans over the Wildcats.

Saavedra needed just 21 seconds to record his fall.

Stanton Peay (152) and Cristian Rodriguez (160), David Maiden (170) and John Ruggeroli (182) also won by pin for Cimarron.

Trace Everett (106), Jake Bowden (145) and Cruz Littlefield (195) had pins for the Wildcats.

Cimarron-Memorial 49, Mojave 29 — At Shadow Ridge, Chance Thompson (106), Nathaniel Rodriguez (113), Peay (145), Ruggeroli (182) and Miguel Torres (285) had pins to power the Spartans over the Rattlers.

Tyler Williams (152) won by pin for Mojave.

Las Vegas 42, Mojave 34 — At Shadow Ridge, Saldate (113), Daniel Law (126), Bowden (145) and Kaempfer (285) had pins to help the Wildcats top the Rattlers.

Dominic Mota (106), Leo Bloodgood (120), Christian Collins (132), Williams (152) and Shelton-Poindester (160) had pins for Mojave.

Rancho 65, Canyon Springs 18 — At Rancho, Alex Arnone needed only 23 seconds to pin his 170-pound opponent and help the Rams down the Pioneers.

Xavier Morgan-Lange (138), Elvis Tlxaca (145), Alejandro Ordonez (182), Jason Ortiz (195), Gabriel Landeros (220) and Bailey Davis (285) also won by pin for Rancho.

Soriano Rodriguez (132), Jose Yanez (152) and William Stevenson (160) won by pin for Canyon Springs.

Rancho 53, Del Sol 25 — At Rancho, Davis (285) won by fall in 47 seconds as the Rams topped the Dragons.

Leiana Nacapuy (106), Arnone (170), Ordonez (182) and Landeros (220) also won by pin for Rancho.

Vishaal Hunt (132), Isaiah Alexander (152) and Alvert Waltower (160) won by pin for Del Sol.

Canyon Springs 34, Del Sol 32 — At Rancho, Yanez (160) and Allen Frischmann (182) each won by pin as the Pioneers edged the Dragons.

Evan Williamson (170) and Victor Parra (195) each recorded a pin for Del Sol.

Coronado 39, Liberty 35 — At Liberty, Timothy Conaway (103) and Alec Carter-Pace (220) each had a pin, and the Cougars took advantage of three forfeits to top the Patriots.

Travis Calisao (113), Kyle Dudder (126), Ryan DeDios (132), Jimmy Morimoto (138) and Aiden Hogue (285) had pins for Liberty.

Palo Verde 49, Liberty 30 — At Liberty,  Cole Judd pinned his opponent in 45 seconds at 220 to lead the Panthers over the Patriots.

Parker Marx (152), Josh Pine (160), and Sergio Leyva (170) also won by fall for Palo Verde.

Dudder (126), Dylan Pope (132), Jonathan Halk (138), and Morimoto (145) won by pin for Liberty.

Palo Verde 51, Coronado 22 — At Liberty, Pine needed only 37 seconds to pin his opponent at 160 as the Panthers beat the Cougars.

Rion Almeida (113), Grey Garcia (138), Leyva (170), David Rivera (220) and Judd (285) also posted pins for Palo Verde.

Conaway (103) and Bryce Palmero (120) won by fall for the Cougars.
