SMALL SCHOOLS: Quick pins lead Eagles to 3A title

Five Boulder City wrestlers recorded pins in championship matches Saturday to lift the Eagles to the team title at the Class 3A Southern League meet at Boulder City.

The Eagles racked up 201 points. Virgin Valley was second with 135, followed by Moapa Valley with 100.

Clinton Garvin (113 pounds), Tyler Washburn (152), Cameron Simonsen (170), Frankie Badgley (195) and Brandon Foster (220) each won by fall in the title match for Boulder City.

Patrick Garvin (126) and Tyler Bethany (145) also won individual titles for Boulder City.

Virgin Valley’s Brok Williams (106), Juan Dominguez (120), Broc Smith (132), Jade Jensen (138) and Nathen Beaumont (285) each won a title, as did Moapa Valley’s Trevor Durham (160) and Parker Chappell (182).

The top three placers in each weight class advance to the state meet next weekend at Cox Pavilion.

CLASS 2A

At Laughlin, White Pine had five individual champions on its way to 245 points and a team title in the Class 2A Southern League tournament.

Laughlin took second with 176 points, followed by West Wendover with 102 and Indian Springs with 101.

Daylin Bing (126), Drue Ashby (132), Aryton Almberg (160), Emmitt Finicum (170) and Tyl Keppner (182) each won a weight class for the Bobcats.

Pahranagat Valley, which finished fifth with 96 points, had three individual champions as Jeffery Jones (113), Jeremy Minick (120) and Sergio Linares (195) each took home a title.

Laughlin’s Jimmy Minniear (138) and Juquan Lakes (285) won titles, as did Lincoln County’s Daniel Olsen (106), Indian Springs’ Dakota Sargent (145), West Wendover’s Christian Andersen (152) and Tonopah’s Aidan Gromis (220).

The top four finishers in each weight class will participate in the state meet next weekend at Cox Pavilion.
