VOLLEYBALL: Smith leads Mustangs’ sweep of Panthers

Ashley Smith had 16 kills, 12 digs, six blocks and three aces as Shadow Ridge’s girls volleyball team rolled to a 25-15, 25-17, 25-21 victory over visiting Palo Verde on Wednesday.

Caitlin Pascal added 39 digs, and Eadara Files had 38 assists for Shadow Ridge.

Makenzie Paulk led Palo Verde with 18 assists. Kendall Cheval added 14 digs and six kills, and Faryn Duncan had 11 digs for the Panthers.

Durango 3, Legacy 2 — At Durango, Carly Taylor had 13 kills, two aces and 19 digs to help the Trailblazers outlast the Longhorns, 25-19, 15-25, 14-25, 25-21, 15-11.

Gisselle Roldan notched five kills and five aces, Cayla Cooper had 16 digs and Adrianna Willeford recorded three blocks for Durango.

Legacy’s Ashly Goor had 20 kills and eight digs, and teammate Hannah Bennett added nine kills and two blocks. Xaven Jesser had 10 kills and six blocks, and Kassidy DeSchepper contributed two aces and 12 digs for the Longhorns, who also got 37 assists, three kills and three blocks from Saipeti Fuiava.

Basic 3, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Christina Kelly tallied nine kills, 14 assists and eight digs to lead the Wolves to a 25-13, 25-7, 28-26 win over the Sundevils.

Kali Weires supplied nine kills for Basic.

Kiana Parkes had 19 digs, and Abigail Olsen contributed 14 assists and nine digs to lead Eldorado.

Foothill 3, Green Valley 0 — At Foothill, Rebecca Hill supplied nine kills and four aces, and Christina Beaver had 29 assists to lead the Falcons to a 25-15, 25-15, 25-10 sweep of the Gators.

Tessa Michalosky had eight kills for Foothill.

Julia Carlson had six kills for Green Valley.

Coronado 3, Rancho 0 — At Coronado, Emily Bender notched eight kills, four digs, three aces and a block, and Cali Thompson had five kills, 32 assists, three aces and one block as the Cougars cruised to a 25-11, 25-14, 25-18 win over the Rams.

Nikki Jackson finished with seven kills, six digs, two blocks and an ace, while Berkeley Oblad added seven kills and two blocks for Coronado. Teammate Carolyn Andrulis contributed six kills, five digs and an ace.

Emma Jackson paced Coronado defensively with 14 digs, and Sabrina Lyen had 13 digs.

Danielle Carino led Rancho with seven kills and six digs. Kayla Coles had eight digs, two blocks and one ace, and Karime Raygoza supplied seven digs for the Rams.

Tech 3, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, Katherine Hernandez had 11 kills and 13 aces to help the Roadrunners claim a 24-26, 25-16, 25-18, 25-13 win over the Dragons.

Madison White recorded five kills and two aces for Tech, and teammate Christine Sweet added seven kills. Samantha Backman contributed 17 assists and four aces for the Roadrunners.

Azhwalaee Oliver led Del Sol with eight kills, three aces and three blocks. Christina Lancaster had four aces, and Christy Patinio added 16 digs for the Dragons.

Moapa Valley 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, Cheyenne Leavitt had 12 kills and four aces to lead the Pirates by the Miners, 25-17, 25-14, 26-24.

Eden Whitmore recorded five kills and five blocks, and Marissa Perez added 25 digs for Moapa Valley, which also got 24 assists from Aria Messer.

Legacy Lane had three aces and three blocks to lead Sunrise Mountain, and teammate Ayla Diaz added three kills.

Sierra Vista 3, Clark 0 — At Sierra Vista, Bailey Bergquist had nine kills, five digs and two aces to lead the Mountain Lions to a 25-18, 25-15, 27-25 victory over the Chargers.

Lexy Ross added four kills and a block for Sierra Vista.

Alice Afualo led Clark with five kills, and teammate Angel Jamerson had 10 assists and six aces.

Virgin Valley 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Mesquite, Bernice Fiso had 10 kills, and Janella Fiso had 19 assists and 15 aces to lead the Bulldogs to a 25-11, 25-22, 25-13 victory over the Jaguars.

Kaydee Bingham, Emma Barnum and Mikayla Brotherson each added five kills for Virgin Valley.

Meleanie Ngaue led Desert Pines with six digs, four aces and two kills.

Rocio Sanchez had nine digs for the Jaguars, and teammate Paola Espino had five digs and three kills.

Boulder City 3, Chaparral 0 — At Boulder City, Jaden Wood had 13 kills, and Tara Cox dished out 22 assists in the Eagles’ 25-12, 25-7, 25-13 victory over the Cowboys.

Emma Jeppsen finished with six kills for Boulder City, and teammate Alyssa Ybarra added six aces and 19 digs.
