VOLLEYBALL: Siegel, Miners hold off Jaguars

Shayne Siegel had seven kills and an ace Thursday to lead Sunrise Mountain’s girls volleyball team to a 25-7, 25-14, 23-25, 26-28, 15-5 victory over host Desert Pines.

Destiny Hodges added six kills for the Miners, who got four kills and four aces from Selena Martinez.

Brianna Fitzgerald led Desert Pines with 11 kills and six aces. Rebecca Hernandez added 10 assists for the Jaguars.

Virgin Valley 3, Moapa Valley 2 — At Mesquite, Bernice Fiso had 16 kills, 19 digs and five aces to help the Bulldogs outlast the Pirates, 25-18, 25-14, 17-25, 20-25, 15-10.

Emma Barnum added nine kills, 18 digs and three blocks, and Kaydee Bingham had 11 kills for Virgin Valley, which got 41 assists from Janella Fiso.

Eden Whitmore had 12 kills, and JaLea Blasingame had seven blocks for Moapa Valley. Aria Messer dished out 37 assists, and Summer Evans had 12 digs for the Pirates.

Shadow Ridge 3, Legacy 1 — At Legacy, Whittnee Nihipali had 18 kills and 14 digs to help the Mustangs rally for a 10-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-17 win over the Longhorns.

Eadara Files dished out 34 assists, and Stacey Hone added eight kills and six blocks for Legacy.

Kamalie Mendonsa had 38 assists and 13 digs to lead Legacy. Mia Suzuki added 31 digs, and Kiana Carter added 12 kills for the Longhorns, who got eight kills from Danielle Castillo.

Green Valley 3, Rancho 0 — At Rancho, Rachel Klopfer had 15 kills and two digs to lead the Gators past the Rams, 25-18, 25-20, 25-16.

Julia Carlson had eight kills and two blocks, and teammate Carlee Becker had 31 assists, three aces and two blocks for Green Valley.

Karime Raygoza had 17 kills and nine digs to lead Rancho, which got 13 kills and 17 digs from Kayla Coles.

Foothill 3, Basic 0 — At Basic, Kiley McCall notched 31 assists and seven digs to guide the Falcons to a 25-13, 25-21, 25-20 sweep of the Wolves.

Tessa Michalosky and Courtney Nilson each added 10 kills for Foothill.

Illiana Ortega had 15 digs, and Kiara Richardson had 14 digs and eight kills for Basic, which got 13 digs from Haley Atkin and nine digs and eight kills from Azure Werner.

Coronado 3, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Alyssa Newsom had 19 assists in the Cougars’ 25-6, 25-13, 25-6 sweep of the Sundevils.

Madison Karcich had seven kills, and Shannon Evans notched six digs for Coronado, which got six kills from Olivia Keller.

Eldorado’s Natalie Barron had seven assists, and Kiana Parkes and Hailey Stark each supplied three kills for the Sundevils.

Bishop Gorman 3, Durango 0 — At Gorman, Ashley Brennan had nine kills, five aces and two digs to lead the Gaels past the Trailblazers, 25-13, 25-20, 25-15.

Abbey Archambault had nine kills, Lexie Mancini had eight kills and three digs, and Sarah Lychock had five aces and two digs for Gorman. Lilly Hoff added 18 assists and eight digs for the Gaels.

Neymara Camden had seven kills to lead Durango, which also got three aces and 14 digs from Cayla Cooper.

Chaparral 3, Del Sol 0 — At Chaparral, Jacitee Panon supplied 13 assists and five aces to lead the Cowboys to a 25-20, 26-24, 25-13 sweep of the Dragons.

Jessica Joiner had six kills and six aces, and teammate Alyssa Porras added six kills and five aces for Chaparral.

Christy Patinio had 21 digs and four kills to lead Del Sol. Nicki Zuniga added six digs, and India Day and Savannah Jacobs each added three kills for the Dragons.

Boulder City 3, Tech 0 — At Tech, the Eagles beat the Roadrunners, 25-12, 27-25, 25-12 victory over the Roadrunners.

Tech’s Jasmine Ramos supplied 11 digs, Caitlynn Miller had six digs, and A’Nae Lewis added five kills.

The Meadows 2-2, Agassi Prep 0-1 — At Agassi Prep, Dina Kosyagin had six kills in the opener and eight kills in the second match to lead the Mustangs to two victories over the Stars, 25-8, 25-10 and 25-23, 23-25, 15-2.

Amanda Hanson had four aces and 10 digs in the opener, and teammate Eden Miller had five assists and three digs for the Mustangs.

Anna Dorn had five kills and five digs for The Meadows in the second match, and teammate Elyse Burns added 16 digs.

Liberty Baptist 3, Green Valley Christian 0 — At Liberty Baptist, the Eagles were 25-13, 25-9, 25-17 winners over Green Valley Christian.
