VOLLEYBALL: Cougars sweep Falcons, take control of Southeast

Carolyn Andrulis and Berkeley Oblad each had 12 kills as Coronado’s girls volleyball team swept visiting Foothill 25-14, 25-12, 25-15 on Thursday to take over sole possession of first place in the Southeast League.

Andrulis also had seven digs, and Oblad had two aces and two blocks.

Nikki Jackson added 10 kills and three blocks, and Cali Thompson had 40 assists for the Cougars. Teammate Sabrina Lyen finished with 19 digs.

Rebecca Hill had seven kills, five digs and two aces to lead Foothill, which lost for the first time in league play. Christina Beaver added 12 assists, five digs and two kills for the Falcons, and teammate Renee Ritchie had eight digs.

Basic 3, Green Valley 0 — At Basic, Christina Kelley had six kills, nine digs, three aces and two blocks to power the Wolves to a 25-11, 25-20, 25-21 victory over the Gators.

Kim Austin added eight kills and two blocks, and Azure Werner had six kills and four aces for Basic.

Maya Hill led Green Valley with six kills, and Jamaica Lewis added four kills and two digs for the Gators.

Rancho 3, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Danielle Carino notched 11 kills and 11 digs, and Kayla Coles supplied 10 kills and 15 digs to lead the Rams to a 25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 25-14 win over the Sundevils.

Serenity Sivongson dished out 19 assists, and Karime Raygoza had nine kills and six digs for Rancho.

Abigail Olsen had 38 assists, Tori Stark contributed 17 kills and six blocks, and Kiana Parkes added 18 digs for Eldorado.

Desert Oasis 3, Cheyenne 2 — At Desert Oasis, Ariel Blockovich had 36 assists, 12 digs, two kills and three aces as the Diamondbacks rallied for a 20-25, 25-22, 18-25, 25-22, 15-8 victory over the Desert Shields.

Lauren Rios added 13 kills, 11 digs and four aces, and Taylor Stansberry had five kills for Desert Oasis.

Cassie Chesler had five kills and two blocks, and teammate Kaia Rhodes added four kills and three blocks for the Diamondbacks, who trailed 18-10 in the fourth set before rallying.

Bonanza 3, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Hayley Huntsman had 19 assists and 10 kills to lead the Bengals to a 25-23, 25-23, 25-23 victory over the Longhorns.

Sophie Cram added 11 kills, and teammate Claire Goodsell had 31 digs for Bonanza, which got 14 digs from Jenna Johnson.

Markell Riley led Legacy with six kills five digs and three assists. Ashly Goor added 10 kills, and Saipeti Fuiava had 18 assists, four aces and four digs for the Longhorns.

Shadow Ridge 3, Durango 0 — At Durango, Ashley Smith had 20 kills and eight digs as the Mustangs swept the Trailblazers, 25-23, 25-19, 25-17.

Chloe Gruwell had 12 kills, three aces and 16 digs, and Eadara Files had 42 assists and six digs for the Mustangs.

Carly Taylor had 13 kills and 10 digs to lead the Trailblazers, and Cayla Cooper had 13 digs.

Cimarron-Memorial 3, Western 1 — At Cimarron, Zaquae Downton notched 14 digs and nine kills to propel the Spartans to a 25-14, 25-15, 23-25, 25-22 win over the Warriors.

Sharon Reyes had 19 digs and eight aces, and Breeana DeCoud added eight kills for Cimarron.

Capricia Pierce had five kills, and Ada Alfaro dished out 19 assists for Western.

Virgin Valley 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — Janella Fiso had six aces, and Bernice Fiso had six kills as the Bulldogs defeated the Miners, 25-19, 25-12, 25-22.

Virgin Valley had 19 kills, four blocks, 22 assists and 18 digs.

Whykella Haley had four kills, one ace and two blocks to lead Sunrise Mountain. Ayla Diaz had five kills and one ace, and Jazmin Pedraza had two aces and two digs for the Miners.

Tech 3, Chaparral 1 — At Tech, Cathy Hernandez had six kills, 13 digs and five aces as the Roadrunners defeated the Cowboys, 19-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-21.

Samantha Backman added seven assists, five digs and two aces, and Jasmine Ramos had six digs and three aces for Tech.

Monique Long led Chaparral with six kills and seven digs. Moriah Allen added four kills for the Cowboys, and teammate Stephanie Ramirez had five aces.

Moapa Valley 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, Cheyenne Leavitt tallied nine kills and seven aces, and Eden Whitmore had nine kills to guide the Pirates to a 25-13, 25-15, 25-17 sweep of the Jaguars.

Paola Espino had six digs, and Brianna Fitzgerald added two aces to lead Desert Pines.

The Meadows 3, Pahranagat Valley 1 — At The Meadows, Alex Rimoldi had 12 kills, 16 digs and two aces to help the Mustangs top the Panthers, 23-25, 25-23, 26-24, 25-20.

Dani Otter added 10 kills, 29 digs and two aces, and Brooke Brennan had nine kills and 26 digs for The Meadows.

Missy Siegel added 23 assists and 33 digs for the Mustangs.
