Roundup: Cheyenne advances in Mountain Region playoffs

Arabic McLaurin had 10 aces and 20 assists, and Laurin Carlton had seven aces and 18 digs as Cheyenne’s girls volleyball team knocked off visiting Eldorado in the Mountain Region tournament Monday, 25-9, 25-17, 25-19.

Angel Buchanan had eight kills and five aces for Cheyenne (7-19), and Shaniya Mouton had seven kills and three aces.

Deanna Contreras had five digs, three kills, two blocks and an ace for the Sundevils (3-17), and Melissa Cuevas and Amber Castro each had three digs, one kill and one ace.

Canyon Springs 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Cheyenne, Dominique McIntyre had 10 aces, two assists, one kill and one dig to lead the Pioneers to a 26-24, 25-18, 25-19 victory over the Jaguars in the opening round of the Mountain Region tournament.

Jeanette Fine had seven kills and five aces for the Pioneers, and Jaiden Guy had six kills, five aces and a dig.

Vira Tavita had six digs and four kills for Desert Pines (2-16), Karyme McGhee had eight assists, and Nylah Scott had four digs and two kills.

Tech 3, Clark 0 — At Tech, Kaitlyn Harvey had five kills, five digs and an ace as the Roadrunners beat the Chargers in the Desert Region tournament, 25-19, 25-14, 27-25.

Sidney Schumm had four aces, four digs and a kill for the Roadrunners (8-22), and Makenna Faught had seven assists, a kill and an ace.

Clark ended the year 1-14.

Lincoln County 2-2, Needles 1 — At Needles, California, the Lynx swept a doubleheader against the Mustangs.
