Lake Mead sweeps Lady Trojans Invitational

Lake Mead rallied from a two-game deficit Saturday to defeat Pahranagat Valley, 21-25, 21-25, 25-16, 25-18, 15-10 in the championship game of the Lady Trojans Invitational tournament.

The Eagles went 6-0 in the tournament, winning three times Friday and defeating Round Mountain and Pahranagat earlier Saturday. Pahranagat's only two losses in the tournament came to Lake Mead.

In the championship match, Amanda Wellman had 19 kills, 13 digs, six blocks, five aces. Ashley Newton had 14 kills, 14 blocks, eight blocks. Jocelyn Cox had 14 assists, 13 blocks. Jessica Rinaldi had 17 assists and 15 digs. Jordan Clarke had 13 digs.

In the earlier match against Pahrump, Newton had nine kills, 13 digs and four blocks. Wellman added 10 kills and seven digs. Rinaldi had 15 assists.

Against Round Mountain, Newton had nine kills and four digs. Rinaldi added nine assists.

Calvary Chapel downed Laughlin, 25-18, 25-13, 26-24 to win the consolation bracket. Jordan Strong had five kills for the Lions. Lauren Feigler, Danielle Johnson and Anna Duerden each added four kills. Jamie Bearden had seven assists.

Calvary Chapel, which went 1-2 in Friday's action, beat Henderson International and the Pahrump Valley junior varsity earlier Saturday.
Against Henderson International, Treasure Brown had nine assists. Feigler had four kills, and Bearden and Strong each added three kills. Against Pahrump, Strong had four kills and four blocks. Bearden added seven assists. Feigler had six kills.

Newton earned MVP honors. She was joined on the all-tournament squad by teammates Wellman and Cox.

Also named to the all-tournament team were: Pahranagat Valley's Chanae Channing and Mary Higbee; Round Mountain's Katrina Akers; Calvary Chapel's Feigler; and Laughlin's Arianna Hardy.
