Harris, Lions capture another tourney title

Deja Harris had 20 kills, five digs and two blocks Saturday to help Calvary Chapel’s girls volleyball team capture its second tournament championship in as many weeks with a 27-26, 24-26, 15-9 win over Lake Mead in the final match of the Lake Mead Fall Classic.

Brooke Davis added 18 assists, eight digs, three aces and three kills for the Lions, who won the Pahrump Valley Invitational last weekend. Athena Lewis had 12 digs and two kills, and Alexis Harris spiked five kills for Calvary Chapel.

Taylor Vetter led Lake Mead with 13 kills, nine digs and three aces. Megan Watkins supplied 15 assists, 10 digs and two kills, and Taylor Badua-Kono added 13 digs and two aces for the Eagles.

Rachael Watkins had 12 digs, and Shannon Regan contributed five kills and three blocks for Lake Mead, which got six digs and three aces from Jenette Hensley.

Deja Harris was named the tournament’s most valuable player. Davis, Vetter and Megan Watkins were among the six all-tournament team honorees.

Calvary Chapel 2, Pahranagat Valley 0 — At Lake Mead, Davis posted 18 assists and 10 digs, and Deja Harris supplied 13 kills and three digs as the Lions advanced to the title match with a 25-18, 25-11 win over the Panthers.

Lewis had four digs and two aces, and McKenna Beckwith chipped in four digs and four aces for Calvary Chapel.

Lake Mead 2, Bishop Gorman JV 0 — At Lake Mead, Vetter had 11 kills and two digs, and Megan Watkins added 12 assists and four aces as the Eagles earned a spot in the final with a 25-19, 25-13 win over the Gaels’ junior varsity.

Badua-Kono added three digs and two aces, and Regan had two kills for Lake Mead.
