Calvary Chapel wins Lady Trojan Invitational
Brettani Davis had 27 digs and Laura Perri 11 assists and three digs Saturday to help Calvary Chapel’s girls volleyball team nip Lake Mead, 27-26, 25-27, 15-13 in the championship match of the Lady Trojan Invitational at Pahrump.
Bri Ridley added nine kills and two digs for the Lions, who bounced back from a loss to Lake Mead in round-robin play on Friday. Eboni Brown had five digs for Calvary Chapel.
Jocelyn Cox had 20 assists and three aces for the Eagles. Ashley Newton added 11 kills and seven digs, and Amanda Wellman had eight kills, six digs and five aces.
Newton was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Wellman, Davis and Ridley were named to the all-tournament team.

Calvary Chapel 2, Lake Mead JV 0 — Perri had nine assists and four digs as the Lions rolled to a 25-3, 25-18 win.
Ridley served six aces and Davis five.
Calvary Chapel 2, Mountain View 0 — Davis had 10 aces and six digs in the Lions’ 25-22, 25-14 win over the Saints.
Ridley added eight aces and two kills. Anna Duerden and Treasure Brown each had five digs for Calvary Chapel, and Danielle Johnson had four kills.
Calvary Chapel 2, Round Mountain 0 — Davis’ 12 digs and two kills helped the Lions down the Knights, 25-13, 25-10.
Perri added seven assists. Ridley had five kills and four digs. Eboni Brown had six digs, three assists and three kills, and Treasure Brown added five digs.
Lake Mead 2, Pahrump Valley JV 0 — Newton had 10 kills, nine digs and two aces to lead the Eagles to a 25-12, 25-17 victory.
Cox had 16 assists and four digs and Wellman eight kills, four aces and four digs.
Lake Mead 2, Mountain View 0 — Wellman served 14 aces and had two kills in the Eagles’ 25-8, 25-3 rout of Mountain View.
Newton had seven aces, and Cox added six assists and four aces.
Mountain View 2, Pahrump Valley JV 1 — Mountain View claimed third place with a 25-22, 25-27, 15-5 win over the host school.
Round Mountain 2, Beatty 0 — The Knights were 25-13, 25-23 winners in the fifth-place match.
Beatty 2, Mountain View 1 — Beatty rallied for a 23-25, 25-14, 17-15 victory over the Saints.
Round Mountain 2, Beatty 1 — Round Mountain posted a 23-25, 25-21, 15-10 win in round-robin play.
Round Mountain 2, Lake Mead JV 0 — The Knights were 25-5, 25-17 winners.
Pahrump Valley JV 2, Beatty 1 — The host school battled back for a 16-25, 25-20, 25-11 win.
