Aggies capture Longhorn Invitational title

Jenna McClure dished out 41 assists in three matches Saturday to help Arbor View’s girls volleyball team win the 12-team Longhorn Invitational at Legacy.

McClure was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after helping the Aggies to a 21-25, 25-20, 15-8 win over Basic in the title match.

Arbor View began the day with a 25-20, 25-13 win over Rancho and defeated Moapa Valley, 25-22, 25-8 in the semifinals.

Hannah Goddard added 19 kills and four aces, and Tamani Simmons had 21 kills for the Aggies, who got 12 kills from Alex Porter.

Simmons and Porter were named to the all-tournament team along with Sierra Vista’s Bailey Bergquist and Sydney Land, Basic’s Christina Kelley, Bonanza’s Hailey Huntsman, Legacy’s Ashly Goor and Mojave’s Leilani Limtiaco.

Legacy defeated Moapa Valley, 25-20, 16-25, 16-14 in the third-place match.
