VOLLEYBALL: Moncrief, Rodriguez lead Rancho to five-set victory

Austin Moncrief had 13 kills, and Martin Rodriguez added 12 kills and 10 digs Wednesday as Rancho’s boys volleyball team secured a 21-25, 25-14, 25-15, 24-26, 15-5 victory over host Sierra Vista.

Aaron Robles finished with 33 assists, 14 digs and two aces, and Ryan Hafen supplied 14 digs for the Rams.

Kelvin Liang led the Mountain Lions with 14 kills and nine digs, and teammate Justin Tennant tallied eight kills and 23 digs.

Julius Sison dished out 26 assists for Sierra Vista.

Desert Oasis 3, Chaparral 2 — At Desert Oasis, Qwade Huff put away 10 kills, and the Diamondbacks rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat the Cowboys, 20-25, 24-26, 25-14, 25-20, 15-11.

Ailey Auslin had 28 assists, and Saunoa Afoa added seven kills for Desert Oasis.

Josiah Wagge paced Chaparral with nine kills, and teammate Pierce Morgan chipped in with seven kills and six digs.

Luiz Munoz-Cardenez finished with six aces for the Cowboys.

Arbor View 3, Centennial 1 — At Centennial, Chris Heron had 37 assists and Darrell Swanson tallied 18 kills as the Aggies beat the Bulldogs, 13-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-17.

Sam Buckles provided six kills and four blocks, and Nick Kastenholz added seven kills and three blocks for Arbor View.

Tanner Durkin notched 12 kills, and Tanner Polley added seven kills for Centennial.

Foothill 3, Silverado 0 — At Silverado, Taeg Williams dished out 29 assists, and Trevor Robison supplied nine kills and seven digs as the Falcons beat the Skyhawks, 25-22, 25-18, 25-19.

Yuri Del Acazar added 21 digs for Foothill.

Austin Hunt tallied 12 kills and five digs, Taz Goon had 14 digs, and Tyler Gralapp had four blocks for Silverado.

Cimarron-Memorial 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Cheyenne, Royce Hightower had seven kills and one block to help the Spartans sweep the Desert Shields, 25-13, 25-22, 25-18.

Nate Starlin added 14 assists, four aces and two kills for Cimarron, which got six kills and a block from Roy Gonzalez.

Deonte Parkins led Cheyenne with 12 kills and two aces.

Palo Verde 3, Bonanza 0 — At Palo Verde, Andrew Weston dished out 22 assists to help the Panthers to a 25-18, 25-18, 25-19 sweep of the Bengals.

Brigham Clawson had eight kills and two aces, and Michael Simister added seven kills for Palo Verde.

Brian Clow had nine kills and seven digs to lead Bonanza.

Josh Lee tallied 10 asssists, and Alec Taylor added eight assists for the Bengals.
