ROUNDUP: King, Panthers outlast Mustangs
Palo Verde’s Brandon King piled up 30 kills as the Panthers held off a late rally for a 25-18, 25-21, 27-29, 24-26, 15-8 road victory over Shadow Ridge on Wednesday.
Sean Wilson added 47 assists and six digs, and Pat Morrison had nine digs for the Panthers.
Braden Taylor had 30 assists for Shadow Ridge. Collin Johnson had 18 kills for the Mustangs, and teammate Cody Tesoro supplied 36 digs.
Coronado 3, Green Valley 2 — At Coronado, Chris Andrulis had 22 kills, 13 digs, four blocks and nine aces to help the Cougars rally for a 23-25, 21-25, 25-18, 25-10, 15-13 win over the Gators.
Jahren Makanoa added 15 kills, eight blocks and three digs, and Byrin Romney had 45 assists, 12 digs and four blocks for Coronado.
Beau Gronert led Green Valley with 10 kills. Teammates Wesley Reed and James Byrne added nine and eight kills, respectively.
Tech 3, Foothill 1 — At Foothill, Edwin Lopez had 13 assists, six kills and five aces to help the Roadrunners to a 25-17, 23-25, 25-17, 25-18 win over the Falcons.
Jaime Torrez added nine kills and two blocks, and Abel Hernandez served eight aces for Tech, which got six kills and four blocks from Aden Hernandez.
Corey Philpot had 25 assists for Foothill.
Silverado 3, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, Kyle Devicino had 11 kills and five digs to help the Skyhawks sweep the Dragons, 25-18, 25-11, 25-23.
Vincent Gomez added nine kills and five digs for Silverado, which got seven kills and four blocks from Shawn Steckel.
Nick Maglaras had 16 assists and five digs to pace Del Sol. James Johnson added three blocks and five digs, and Kevin Fitzpatrick had six kills for the Dragons.
Centennial 3, Mojave 0 — At Mojave, Dustin Buell had six kills, six aces and three blocks to lead the Bulldogs to a 25-2, 25-11, 25-6 sweep of the Rattlers.
Leo Durkin had six kills and six aces for Centennial, and teammate Dylan Morris added six kills.
Cimarron-Memorial 3, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Tanner Maxwell had seven kills and 10 assists, and Ares Manumaleuna added 10 kills as the Spartans swept the Longhorns, 25-11, 25-18, 25-20.
Taylor Larson added 11 assists for Cimarron.
Erik Valerio had 11 assists, and Jordan Pinkney and Justin Paquin each supplied four kills for Legacy.
Arbor View 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Arbor View, Genaddy Shataev had 20 kills and seven aces to lead the Aggies to a sweep of the Desert Shields, 25-16, 25-16, 25-21.
Casey Johansen added five kills for Arbor View.
Richie Garness had 25 assists, and Dylan Mengert supplied six blocks for Cheyenne.
Basic 3, Liberty 0 — At Basic, Tanner Humpherys had 12 kills, five digs and four assists to lead the Wolves past the Patriots, 25-21, 25-20, 25-20.
John Fitzgerald added 16 assists, three kills and four digs, and Robby Nelson had 15 digs for Basic.
Kyle Kaleb had six kills and two assists, and Daniel Filimona added five kills for Liberty.
