ROUNDUP: First-place Las Vegas sweeps Rancho in boys volleyball

Aaron Hansen had 11 kills, nine digs and three blocks Thursday as Las Vegas’ boys volleyball team maintained sole possession of first place in the Northeast League with a 25-16, 25-20, 25-15 win over visiting Rancho.

The Wildcats are 5-0 in league play. The Rams fell to 3-1.

Danny Farias had 35 assists and Braeden Wilson 11 digs and nine kills for Las Vegas.

Kevin Wadworth had 25 assists for Rancho.

Canyon Springs 3, Chaparral 0 — At Chaparral, R.J. Esteves had 27 assists, 10 blocks, three aces and three kills to lead the Pioneers to a 25-22, 25-16, 25-23 win over the Cowboys.

Eric Gutierrez added 22 digs and Kapahu Kahalepo 11 kills and four blocks for Canyon Springs.

Carlos Chandia led Chaparral with 15 assists, five aces, five digs, four kills and three blocks. DeAndre Marshall had eight kills, three digs and three blocks and Wayne To’o five digs and three blocks for the Cowboys.

Valley 3, Eldorado 1 — At Valley, Gideon Tesfai had 13 kills and four digs for the Vikings in their 25-8, 25-19, 20-25, 25-19 win over the Sundevils.

Carl Bright-Ajuziem dished out 22 assists and had eight digs for Valley. Teammate Alonzo Blount added nine kills and six digs.

Jesse Whinery had eight blocks, seven kills and six assists for Eldorado. Teammate Trey Pictum added eight kills and 12 assists.

Spring Valley 3, Western 0 — At Spring Valley, Dallas Teshima served up 42 assists for the Grizzlies in their 25-22, 25-16, 25-22 win over the Warriors.

Thomas Ricca tallied 14 kills and Khoa Nguyen 12 kills and five blocks for Spring Valley.

Bonanza 3, Durango 0 — At Durango, Dustin Tippetts had 28 assists to lead the Bengals to a 25-14, 25-3, 25-15 win over the Trailblazers.

Andrew Whiting had 10 kills and Jared Harrington nine for Bonanza.

Bishop Gorman 3, Clark 0 — At Gorman, Bobby Houser had 12 kills and six aces and Cameron Tom 27 assists to lead the Gaels to a 25-21, 25-15, 25-23 win over the Chargers.

Alex Turner added 10 kills for Gorman.

Basic 3, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Jenson Lavalle had 11 kills and Mike Lunen 21 assists and four blocks to lead the Wolves over the Longhorns, 25-17, 25-13, 25-17.

Danny Holihan and Joey Thomas each had four kills and Austin Hafen four blocks for Basic.

Ben Noel had 13 assists and Ethan Ewing six kills for Legacy.

Palo Verde 3, Sierra Vista 2 — At Palo Verde, Drew Topham’s block on match point gave the Panthers a 25-18, 18-25, 17-25, 25-18, 17-15 win over the Mountain Lions.

Shaun Carroll had 13 kills and Topham nine for Palo Verde. Matt Lish had 34 assists and Matt Phillips 14 digs for the Panthers.

Cody Seager had 11 kills, nine blocks and three digs to lead Sierra Vista. Zach Waldron contributed 45 assists, six blocks and five kills and Kohl Homeyer 14 kills, six blocks and two digs for the Mountain Lions.
