ROUNDUP: Divicino, Skyhawks hold off Panthers to open season

Kyle Divicino had 18 kills to lead Silverado to a 15-25, 25-20, 25-21, 22-25, 15-11 home victory over Palo Verde on Thursday.

Ruben Jackson added nine kills and three blocks, and Indigo Varela had 22 digs for the Skyhawks.

Trent Gneiting led the Panthers with 23 kills, six blocks and 11 digs. Andrew Weston added 41 assists and seven digs, and Jordyn Martin had eight kills, five blocks and 11 digs for Palo Verde.

Canyon Springs 3, Desert Oasis 1 — At Canyon Springs, Jon Jason Duhaylungsod posted 52 assists and six aces as the Pioneers downed the Diamondbacks, 23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 27-25.

Immanuel Tufuga had 19 kills and eight digs, and Adam Tuala added 17 kills for Canyon Springs.

Danny Eslinger led Desert Oasis with 19 assists and three digs. Taeler Bowen added eight kills, three aces and five blocks for the Diamondbacks.

Cimarron-Memorial 3, Valley 1 — At Cimarron-Memorial, Kyle Henriksen had 10 kills, four blocks and two assists as the Spartans defeated the Vikings, 18-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-15.

Taylor Larsen contributed six kills and 20 assists, and Braydon Egbert had eight kills and seven digs for Cimarron.

Peter Nunes led the Vikings with 25 assists and four kills, and Matt Ballaro had 12 kills for the Vikings.

Bonanza 3, Coronado 1 — At Coronado, Brycen Duckworth had eight kills to lead the Bengals to a 25-23, 20-25, 29-27, 25-22 win over the Cougars.

Mitchell Barnes dished out 38 assists for Bonanza.

Brandon Dau led Coronado with 24 kills and 21 digs. Connor Stephenson had 44 assists for the Cougars.

Foothill 3, Desert Pines 1 — At Foothill, Kendall Andrews had 16 kills and six digs to lead the Falcons to a 25-16, 22-25, 25-17, 25-20 win over the Jaguars.

Chanseton Chow had 10 kills and seven digs for Foothill, which got 31 assists from Nick Stoker and five aces from Brandon Bly.

Trevor Krystek had five kills and six blocks for Desert Pines, which got 27 digs from Bryan Garcia and 13 assists from Justin Ngarmnet.

Julian Jacobs and Thomas Hooper each added five kills for the Jaguars.

Eldorado 3, Clark 1 — At Clark, Joey Barnhurst had 17 assists, and Billy Kalinowski had seven blocks to lead the Sundevils to a 25-15, 25-21, 18-25, 25-18 win over the Chargers.

Jake Hollingsworth had five kills, and David Tran added four kills for Eldorado.

Taeg Williams led Clark with 22 assists. Quartez Baugus and Raydel Perez each had seven kills for the Chargers.

Arbor View 3, Durango 0 — At Durango, Richie Garness had 40 assists and four kills as the Aggies defeated the Trailblazers, 25-12, 25-18, 25-20.

Darrell Swanson added nine kills and 11 digs, and Dylan Mengert had nine kills, six digs and four blocks for Arbor View.

Dex Alston led Durango with 20 digs, and Paris Estrada added two kills and two blocks for the Trailblazers.

Shadow Ridge 3, Sierra Vista 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Tanner Maxwell had 15 kills as the Mustangs rolled the Mountain Lions, 25-16, 25-7, 25-6.

Brandon Fisher added 10 kills, and teammate Braden Taylor supplied 17 assists for Shadow Ridge.

Rancho 3, Western 0 — At Rancho, Guillermo Silva notched 11 kills and six aces to lead the Rams past the Warriors, 25-13, 25-14, 25-21.

R’Mond Hill added six kills and four aces, and Kendall Reynolds had 12 assists and four kills for Rancho.

Vadell Wilson had six kills and five blocks for Western, and teammate U.L. Jamerson had six assists.
