BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Rattlers secure fourth straight Sunset League crown

Alex Carvalho had 11 kills and four aces Monday as Mojave’s boys volleyball team clinched its fourth straight Division I-A Sunset League title with a 25-13, 25-15, 25-16 sweep of visiting Cheyenne.

Absalon Williams had 11 kills and three blocks for the Rattlers. Jason Zambrano added 18 assists, five kills and seven digs, and Clayton Fontano had seven kills, six digs and five aces for Mojave.

Anthony Walker had three kills and two digs for the Desert Shields, and teammate Devante Hammond added two kills and three blocks.

Sierra Vista 3, Spring Valley 0 — At Spring Valley, Nik Fava had 14 kills, 12 digs and three aces to help the Mountain Lions to a sweep of the Grizzlies.

Jordan Kirtley added nine kills and five digs, and Brendan Cowden had 33 assists, six digs and two aces for Sierra Vista.

Steven Paukovic had four kills, five blocks, four assists and three digs to pace Spring Valley. Troy Lance added four kills and five assists, and Kobe Shields had six blocks for the Grizzlies, who got five blocks from Ace LaBreche.

Clark 3, Western 0 — At Western, Antonio Martinez had 19 assists, two kills and seven digs to help the Chargers to a 25-23, 25-14, 25-22 sweep of the Warriors.

Amir Boone added six kills and four blocks, and Omar Catic had five kills and five blocks for Clark.

Christian Macias led Western with three kills, seven assists, four blocks and nine digs. Anthony Dodson had four kills and two blocks, and Dylan Reeves added two kills and four blocks for the Warriors.
