BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Palo Verde holds off Legacy in five sets

Taylor Miller had 13 kills Tuesday to help Palo Verde’s boys volleyball team hold off visiting Legacy, 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 23-25, 15-12.

Haden Van Orden had 40 assists and six digs, and Jacob Scheer added 16 digs for the Panthers.

Omari Wheeler had 26 kills and nine digs, and Anthony Guevara added 18 kills and 15 digs for the Longhorns. Nephi Purcell had 59 assists, 10 digs and three kills for Legacy.

Clark 3, Cheyenne 2 — At Cheyenne, Antonio Martinez had 41 assists, eight digs and three kills to lead the Chargers to a 25-16, 21-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-12 victory over the Desert Shields.

Alan Cruz added 10 kills and 15 digs, and Amir Boone and Daryll Valdez each had nine kills for Clark.

Boone had four blocks, and Valdez added three blocks for the Chargers.

Tyler Buchanan led Cheyenne with 10 kills, and Felix Ellqvist added five kills and two blocks for the Desert Shields.

Durango 3, Shadow Ridge 1 — At Durango, Michael Diggins had 14 kills and 12 digs, and Jaylen Clark added 13 kills and seven digs as the Trailblazers topped the Mustangs, 25-10, 25-21, 27-29, 25-22.

Andre Shabazz had 40 assists, eight digs, three kills and two aces for Durango, which got nine kills, five blocks and three aces from Gabe Pestano. Marc Viernes added 17 digs, and Jason Landman had five blocks for the Trailblazers.

Cody Heathcock and Tanner Franklin each had 14 kills to lead Shadow Ridge. Cutler Leavitt added eight kills, 12 digs and two aces for the Mustangs, and teammate Cameron Renner added 20 digs.

Las Vegas 3, Valley 1 — At Valley, Luis Wong had 41 assists, eight digs and two aces, and Brandon Kampshoff notched 13 kills and 11 digs to help the Wildcats top the Vikings, 23-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-14.

Raymond Magante had 12 kills and eight digs, and Ronell Sueno supplied four blocks and three kills for Las Vegas.

Valley’s Justin Sandoval had 33 assists, and teammate Jared Marchello had 17 kills. Marty Heavey added nine kills for the Vikings.

Mojave 3, Sierra Vista 0 — At Mojave, Jason Zambrano had 39 assists, and Alex Carvalho added 14 kills as the Rattlers swept the Mountain Lions, 25-19-, 25-9, 25-21.

Clayton Fontano had eight kills and eight digs, and teammate Absalon Williams supplied 11 kills for Mojave, which also got 19 digs from Anthony Reed.

Sierra Vista’s Nik Fava had seven kills, five digs and two aces, and Matt Marick added 17 digs for the Mountain Lions.

Green Valley 3, Liberty 0 — At Green Valley, Zachary Hewitt had eight kills, 23 assists and three aces as the Gators rolled to a 25-8, 25-15, 25-17 victory over the Patriots.

Chase Larsen added 12 kills, six assists and two aces, and Dustin Elliott had five kills and five digs for Green Valley.

Jordan Ellis contributed five digs and three aces, and teammate Tyler Dancel had four digs for the Gators.

Spring Valley 3, Western 0 — At Spring Valley, Troy Lance had seven kills and six assists to help the Grizzlies to a 25-19, 25-22, 25-20 win over the Warriors.

Stevan Paukovic had six assists, three kills and three digs, and Ace LaBreche added five kills and five digs for Spring Valley.

Christian Macias recorded 12 assists, 10 digs, four blocks, two kills and two aces for Western. Anthony Dodson had nine kills, seven blocks and four digs, and teammate Brandon Ly supplied nine digs and three kills for the Warriors.

Silverado 3, Canyon Springs 1 — At Canyon Springs, the Skyhawks were 25-9, 25-27, 25-20, 25-14 winners over the Pioneers.
