BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Mustangs erase early deficit, top Skyhawks

Quinn Peterson and Carter Johnson each had 24 kills Monday to help Shadow Ridge’s boys volleyball team rally for a 20-25, 21-25, 25-13, 25-23, 15-7 victory at Silverado.

Nathan Makaiwi had 49 assists and 14 digs, and A.J. Makaiwi had 22 digs for the Mustangs.

Austin Hunt led Silverado with 17 kills. Jeremiah Ward added nine kills, and Cody Steckel had 25 assists for the Skyhawks, who also got six blocks from Tyler Gralapp.

Green Valley 3, Sierra Vista 1 — At Green Valley, Zachary Hewitt supplied nine kills and three aces to lead the Gators over the Mountain Lions, 25-14, 25-22, 23-25, 25-15.

Brian Ellington added eight kills and four digs for Green Valley, which also received 24 assists and six digs from Arvin Nitollama.

Kelvin Liang had eight kills for Sierra Vista.

Durango 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Cheyenne, Pedro Abrego had nine kills, nine digs and five aces to lift the Trailblazers to a 25-21, 25-13, 25-17 sweep over the Desert Shields.

Andre Shabazz had 20 assists and five aces for Durango.

Deonte Perkins led Cheyenne with six kills and two blocks, and teammate Kyle Power added four blocks.

Spring Valley 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Spring Valley, Bradd Robison had 10 kills and two digs as the Grizzlies swept the Miners, 25-16, 25-6, 25-18.

James Nunez added six kills and 10 assists, and Troy Lance finished with nine blocks for Spring Valley, which also got three aces from Jared Tremblay-Barris.

Tech 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Tech, Joshua Wood had six kills and five aces to help the Roadrunners to a 25-15, 25-9, 25-19 sweep of the Pioneers.

Miguel Garcia added four kills and three aces, and Brandon Larson and Tyler Gardenhire each had four kills for Tech, which got four aces from Sean Larson.

Bonanza 3, Basic 0 — At Bonanza, Kellen Layne had 10 kills, and Andrew Jensen had nine kills, four blocks and two aces to lead the Bengals to a 25-16, 25-18, 25-22 victory over the Wolves.

Brian Clow had eight kills, six digs and two blocks, and Joshua Lee added 16 assists and two kills for Bonanza.

Auston Farrington had five kills, and Joaquin Pequeno and Sean Spencer each had four kills for Basic. Taylor Dyer added 16 assists for the Wolves.
