Roundup: Moapa Valley wins four-team home meet

Two Moapa Valley girls track athletes won two events Wednesday as the host Pirates rolled to victory in a four-team meet.

Natalie Mills won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.94 seconds, and the 300 hurdles in 50.57. Andrea Mogren claimed the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 4¾ inches, and the triple jump with a distance of 30-4½.

Moapa Valley had 115 team points, followed by Shadow Ridge with 86½. Sunrise Mountain was third with 38½, and Desert Pines was fourth with 24.

Bobowicz helps Gaels win tri-meet

At Bishop Gorman, Gwenavere Bobowicz won two individual events to lead the Gaels to a win over Bonanza and The Meadows in a three-team meet.

Bobowicz won the long jump with a mark of 17-4 and covered 34-9½ to win the triple jump.

Gorman’s Samantha Nieves won the 100 (13.76) and was second in the 200. Samantha Schumacher was first in the 100 hurdles (20.45) and second in the 300 hurdles for the Gaels, and teammate Lindsey Hightower won the pole vault (7-6) and placed second in the triple jump. Olivia Smith tied for first in the high jump (4-6) and was second in the long jump for Gorman.

The Gaels finished with 132 points. Bonanza was second with 28, and The Meadows was third with 7.

Sierra Vista breezes to win

At Sierra Vista, Emma Ziegler won the 200 in 29.38 and the 400 in 1:02.98 to help the Mountain Lions breeze to victory over Calvary Chapel and Durango.

Courtney O’Neal won the 100 (13.56) and finished second in the long jump for the Mountain Lions. Also for Sierra Vista, Audra Billingsley won the 1,600 (5:53.82) and was second in the 800, and Baileigh Sundin won the 3,200 (12:53.06) and was second in the 1,600.

Durango’s Ajana Cressey won the 300 hurdles in 51.28 and was second in the 100 hurdles.

Sierra Vista finished with 107 points. Durango was second with 16, followed by Calvary Chapel with 7.

Mojave edges Canyon Springs in four-team meet

At Mojave, Destin Bolden swept the throws to lead the host Rattlers to victory in a four-team meet.

Bolden took the discus with a mark of 92-11 and the shot put with a throw of 31-10 for Mojave, which had 86 points.

Canyon Springs was second with 81, followed by Del Sol (46) and Somerset-Losee (17).

Iyani Hayden and Destiny Diaz each won two events for the Pioneers.

Hayden won the 100 (17.0) and long jump (17-7¾), and Diaz was first in the 3,200 (14:03.0) and 800 (2:52.0).

Del Sol’s Charleyanse Howard won the 100 (12.9), high jump (4-7) and triple jump (30-9).
