Roundup: Emily Wickens guides Coronado to victory

Emily Wickens won two individual events and ran on the winning 800-meter relay team Monday to help Coronado’s girls track team capture a four-team meet at Foothill.

Wickens won the 200 in 27.8 seconds and the 100 hurdles in 16.35.

The Cougars’ Kelly Denninghoff won the 3,200 in 12:51.97 and ran on the winning 800 relay team.

Lexie Potts won the long jump with an effort of 14 feet, 11 inches and the triple jump with a mark of 31-3 to help Coronado to a total of 141 points. Foothill was second with 92, followed by GV Christian with 10½ and Calvary Chapel with 3½.

Foothill’s Tyjana Gardner won the 100 in 12.89 and ran on the winning 400 relay team, and teammate Emily Slatoff claimed the 400 in 1:04.51 and was part of the winning 3,200 relay team.

Foothill holds lead in boys meet

At Foothill, Justin Neubeck and Victor Pampuch each won two individual events to help the Falcons lead a five-team meet.

Neubeck won the 800 (2:08.72) and the 1,600 (4:53.95), and Pampuch cleared 5-0 to win the high jump and was first in the shot put with an effort of 50-5.

The Falcons have a team total of 122½ points. Coronado has 122, followed by Spring Mountain with 52½, Calvary Chapel with 13 and GV Christian 7. The meet will conclude Tuesday with the pole vault the lone remaining event.

Coronado’s Noah Bringhurst won the 200 in 22.57 and ran on the winning 400 relay team. Teammate Alex Lopeman won the 100 in 11.05 and joined Bringhurst on the 400 relay team.

The Cougars’ Brendan Graves won the 400 in 52.94 and ran on the winning 1,600 relay team.
