GIRLS TRACK: Rodriguez sweeps throws to send Diamondbacks past Bengals

Tawny Rodriguez swept the throws on Tuesday to lead the Desert Oasis girls track team to a 91-57 victory over host Bonanza.

Rodriguez had a mark of 33 feet, 1 inch in the shot put, and took the discus with a throw of 129-1.

Chiori Hart won the 400-meter dash in 1 minute, 10 seconds and was second in the 100 and 200 for the Diamondbacks. Desert Oasis’ Rachel Handelman won the triple jump (29-6½) and was second in the long jump, and teammate Brooke Locey took the 1,600 (5:40.0) and ran on the winning 1,600 relay team.

Bonanza’s Leia Royster won the high jump (4-10) and 200 (27.4).

Mountain Lions beat Pirates

At Overton, Aria Holmes won the 200 (29.36) and ran on the winning 800 relay team to lead Sierra Vista to a 73-60 win over Moapa Valley.

Holmes also placed second in the high jump and 400.

Courtney O’Neal won the long jump (13-8), ran on the winning 400 relay team and was second in the 100 for Sierra Vista. Aryana Picquette won the shot put (27-3) and was second in the 100 hurdles for the Mountain Lions.

Moapa Valley’s Signe Berg won the 800 (3:03.59) and high jump (4-6), and teammate Natalie Mills was first in the 100 hurdles (18.33) and 300 hurdles (54.5).

Mustangs win three-team meet

At Bishop Gorman, Julia Pack won three events to lead Shadow Ridge to victory over the Gaels and Quest Academy.

Pack won the 800 (2:37.47), 1,600 (5:48.69) and 3,200 (13:48.72).

Danielle Lynch won the 200 (26.52) and long jump (15-2) for the Mustangs, who finished with 148½ points. Gorman had 75½, and Quest had 2.

Gorman’s Kira Roth won the 300 hurdles (48.51) and 100 hurdles (18.21).

Bulldogs roll past Spartans

At Cimarron-Memorial, Kiana Sai, Talie Bonds and Lauren Ritter each won two events to help Centennial to a 111-21 victory over the Spartans.

Sai won the shot put (35-6) and discus (92-6), Bonds won the 100 hurdles (15.0) and high jump (5-0), and Ritter took the pole vault (8-6) and long jump (15-0¼).

Trojans claim six-team meet

At Pahrump, Megan McDermott won three events to lead Pahrump Valley to victory in a six-team meet.

McDermott won the 100 hurdles (16.6), long jump (14-11) and triple jump (28-9) for the Trojans, who finished with 178.4 points. Clark (126.3) was second, followed by Spring Valley (73), Beatty (40), Tonopah (18) and Western (15.9).

Kelbie Middleton won the 100 (12.1), 200 (25.8) and was second in the 400 for Pahrump.
