Ashley Moore helps Centennial girls to Liberty Invitational title

Ashley Moore won two individual events and ran a leg on a victorious relay team Saturday to help Centennial’s girls track team win the Liberty Invitational.

Moore finished first in the 300-meter hurdles in 47.99 seconds and placed first in the long jump with a mark of 17 feet, 2 inches. She also helped the Bulldogs’ 400 relay team to victory in 50.62 seconds.

Centennial led the 15-team field with 156 points. Liberty was second with 98, followed by Bishop Gorman (93) and Coronado (74¾).

Liberty’s Aaliyah Soa swept the throws, winning the shot put with an effort of 39-7 and the discus with a throw of 131-2. Gabby Carson of Liberty won the pole vault (11-3) and was second in the long jump.

Gorman’s Emilia Puskas took both the 800 (2:29.13) and 1,600 (5:28.96).

Shadow Ridge’s Dayvian Diaz won the 100 (13.04) and 200 (27.09).

Clark’s Kaelyn Monroe won the 400 in 1:00.44 and finished second in the 800.

In the boys meet, Kyu Kelly won two individual events and was part of two winning relays to help Bishop Gorman’s boys run away with the team title.

Kelly won the 200 in 22.61 and the long jump with an effort of 22-1.

Teammates Cam Hunterton, Massmillano Swenson and Jalen Nailor each won one individual event and finished second in another.

Nailor and Kelly were part of the Gaels’ winning 400 relay (42.23) and 800 relay (1:29.63) teams.

Hunterton won the triple jump, covering 45-7, and was second in the long jump. Swenson won the 1.600 in 4:40.29 before placing second in the 3,200. Nailor won the 100 in 11.45 and was second in the 200.

Gorman finished with 162 points. Centennial was second with 91, Liberty took third with 68, and Las Vegas was fourth with 63.

Liberty’s Corey Moore swept the throws, winning the discus with a toss of 176-3 and the shot put with an effort of 51-0. Teammate Theodore Gosselin was first in the 400 in 51.8 and second in the 800.

Del Sol’s Jaylen Flenaugh won both hurdle events, taking the 110s in 15.83 and the 300s in 42.06.

Laguna Beach Trophy Invite

At Laguna Beach, California, Green Valley’s Isabel Madrid won the girls 100-meter high hurdles at the Laguna Beach Trophy Invite.

Madrid posted a time of 15.94.

Green Valley’s Sierrah Rivera was second in the 100 (12.4) and 400 (58.15) and third in the 200 (25.98). Deborah Grant finished second in the 200 (25.93) and was third in the 100 (12.42) and 400 (58.6).

On the boys side, Green Valley’s Milton Amezcua won the 3,200 with a time of 9:53.03.
