REGIONALS: Sprinter keys Boulder City girls’ title

Boulder City’s Indiana Mead won three events to lead the Eagles to the girls title at the Class 3A Southern League track meet Saturday at Overton.

Mead won the 100-meter dash (13.5 seconds), the 200 (27.55) and 400 (59.68) for Boulder City, which won the meet with 91 points.

Moapa Valley was second with 62, and Virgin Valley placed third with 32.

Moapa Valley’s Jordan Chappell won the 800 (2:31.51) and 1,600 (5:44.38). Virgin Valley’s Blaire Leavitt placed first in the shot put (36 feet) and discus (100-11).

CLASS 2A — Autumn Lawrence, Catlin Ankney and Kelsie Fullmer each won two events to lead White Pine to the Class 2A Southern League girls title with 175 points.

The Meadows was second with 163, and Laughlin was third with 142.

Lawrence won the 100 (13.64) and 400 (1:03.28). Ankney was first in the long jump (15 feet, 5¾ inches) and triple jump (31-8). Fullmer won the 800 (2:35.89) and high jump (4-8).

The Meadows’ Krystina Fong won the pole vault (8-6) and 100 hurdles (17.74), and teammate Brianna Capanna placed first in the shot put (32-1) and discus (104-1).

CLASS 1A — Ana Martinez won three events to lead Beatty to the girls title in the Class 1A Southern League meet with 191 points.

Martinez was first in the 800 (2:38.89), 1,600 (6:13.88) and 3,200 (13:45.24).

Trista Eastman won the pole vault (6-0) and 300 hurdles (55.18) for the Hornets.

Lund was second with 86 points and Pahranagat Valley third with 85.

Trinity’s Andrea Martinez won the 200 (27.31) and 400 (1:01.63).

Round Mountain’s Kattrena Akers was first in the long jump (14-6¾) and triple jump (32-11).

BOYS

CLASS 3A — Chase Witter and Josh Thompson each won two events to lead Moapa Valley to the Class 3A Southern League boys title with 96 points.

Witter placed first in the 400 (50.96) and 800 (1:57.05), and Thompson won the 1,600 (4:34.23) and 3,200 (9:41.25).

Boulder City was second with 54 points, and Virgin Valley finished third with 36.

Virgin Valley’s Nathan Lee won the high jump (5-10) and long jump (20-7).

CLASS 2A  — White Pine’s Jacob Bradshaw won the 200 (23.36) and high jump (6-3) as the Bobcats rolled to the Class 2A Southern League boys title with 229 points.

Calvary Chapel was second with 111, and Laughlin finished third with 107.

Laughlin’s Cody McGeshick won the 800 (2:09.05), 1,600 (5:04.96) and 3,200 (11:05.5).

Calvary Chapel’s Denzel Morris was first in the 100 (11.54) and 110 hurdles (17.65).

CLASS 1A — Spring Mountain won six events, including three relays, and cruised to the Class 1A Southern League boys title with 243 points.

Beatty was second with 116, and Tonopah finished third with 83½.

Trinity’s Budweiser Hawkins won the 200 (23.19), high jump (5-10) and long jump (20-7).

Beatty’s Anthony Turner placed first in the 100 (11.83) and 400 (51.13).
