Boys roundup: Coronado holds off Green Valley, Spring Mountain

Justin Watterson and Dillon Stewart each won two individual events and ran on the winning 800-meter relay team Tuesday as Coronado’s boys track team won a home meet against Green Valley and Spring Mountain.

Watterson won the 110 hurdles in 16.13 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 41.74. Stewart won the 100 in 11.17 and the 200 in 22.67.

Coronado’s Chancellor Williams won the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 8 inches and was second in both the pole vault and the triple jump.

Coronado finished with 83 points. Green Valley had 79½, and Spring Mountain had 23½.

The Gators’ Delvaughn Johnson won the discus (129-11) and the shot put (43-3½), and teammate Martin Nelson won the 800 (2:00.99), was second in the 1,600 and took third in the 3,200.

Sierra Vista wins three-team meet

At Sierra Vista, Edgar Molina, Dylan Batoon and Devon Faison each won two individual events to lead the Mountain Lions to victory over Bonanza and Calvary Chapel.

Molina won the 100 in 11.1 and the 200 in 22.2. Batoon was first in the 1,600 in 5:04.4 and the 3,200 in 11:31.7. Faison swept the throws, winning the shot put with an effort of 49-9 and the discus with a throw of 138-2.

Sierra Vista finished with 100 points. Bonanza had 51 points, and Calvary Chapel was third with 32.

Bonanza’s Hans Tanael won the pole vault (13-6) and the 300 hurdles (45.1).

Desert Oasis wins three-team meet

At Clark, Micah Walker and Isaiah Scoville each won two individual events to help Desert Oasis to victory over Spring Valley and Clark.

Walker threw 124-10 to win the discus and was first in the shot put (40-11). Scoville won the 100 in 11.32 and was first in the long jump (20-0).

Desert Oasis finished with 66 points, three more than Spring Valley. Clark was third with 50.

Spring Valley’s Michael Canada won the triple jump (38-6) and was second in the long jump.

Clark’s Liam Jones won the 1,600 in 4:37.33 and the 3,200 in 10:18.48.
