Rain postpones start of regional tennis tournaments

Rain forced the postponement of the Sunrise, Sunset and Division I-A Southern Region girls tennis tournaments Monday.

All twelve scheduled matches were pushed back, most of them to Wednesday, and the semifinal round also has been postponed.

The boys tournaments, scheduled to start Tuesday were largely unaffected by the schedule changes.

Two of Monday's matches were rescheduled for Tuesday and will be played alongside boys matches that involve the same schools. Arbor View's boys and girls will travel to Palo Verde and play at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Foothill's boys and girls visit Silverado to play at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Because the Clark County School District had no other available transportation on Tuesday afternoon, the other 10 Monday matchups all have been pushed back to 3 p.m. Wednesday, which was when the girls region semifinals were scheduled.

As a result, girls semifinal action has been pushed back to 10 a.m. Thursday, all at the sites of the higher seeds.

Boys semifinals still will be played at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Finals in all three regions are Friday at Darling Tennis Center.
