ROUNDUP: Ward helps Durango boys top Mountain Lions

Andrew Ward won two individual events at Desert Breeze on Saturday to lead Durango’s boys swimming team to a 120-89 win over Sierra Vista.

Ward captured the 100-yard backstroke in 1 minute, 0.78 seconds and the 200 individual medley in 2:07.78.

The Mountain Lions’ Bailey D’Alessio took the 50 freestyle in 27.66 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.5.

Centennial 157, Faith Lutheran 89 — At Desert Breeze, Thomas Farrell and Jeff Lippitt each claimed two individual events as the Bulldogs topped the Crusaders.

Farrell won the 100 butterfly in 1:00.91 and the 100 backstroke in 1:05.08. Lippitt took the 50 freestyle in 24.46 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.44.

Spring Valley 141, Bonanza 64 — At Desert Breeze, Dylan Wolf and Nicholas Cabalo each won twice as the Grizzlies downed the Bengals.

Wolf captured the 100 freestyle in 51.31 and the 100 backstroke in 58.65. Cabalo claimed the 50 freestyle in 25.74 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.4.

Boulder City 214, Tech 69 — At Multi-Generational, Jared Smith won the 100 butterfly in 56.09 and the 200 individual medley in 2:03.23 to lead the Eagles past the Roadrunners.

Palo Verde 192, Desert Oasis 74 — At Municipal, Sergei Fedossov and Michael Mortensen each won two events as the Panthers downed the Diamondbacks.

Fedossov took the 50 freestyle in 24.98 and the 100 butterfly in 1:06.19, and Mortensen won the 200 (1:55.15) and 500 freestyles (5:03.47).

Cimarron-Memorial 156, Cheyenne 84 — At Municipal, the Spartans used their depth to overcome the Desert Shields.

Cheyenne’s Morgan Thompson took the 200 freestyle in 2:06.44 and the 100 butterfly in 1:07.03, and teammate Dylan Thompson won the 100 freestyle in 55.47 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.1.

Las Vegas 184, Canyon Springs 75 — At Municipal, Paulo Almeida, Seanryan Samia and Sam Blackburn each won two events to lead the Wildcats by the Pioneers.

Almeida won the 100 butterfly in 1:03.49 and the 500 freestyle in 6:06.16. Samia took the 50 freestyle in 24.15 and the 100 backstroke in 1:10:29, and Blackburn claimed the 100 breaststroke in 1:16.75 and the 200 freestyle in 2:15.97.

Shadow Ridge 149, Arbor View 137 — At Municipal, Brent Buff won the 200 freestyle in 1:54.47 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.03 to help the Mustangs edge the Aggies.

Arbor View’s Ryan Meservey won the 100 backstroke in 1:06.75 and the 500 freestyle in 6:16.88.

Coronado 228, Liberty 65 — At Multi-Generational, Jacob Luna, Michael Granet and Hans Nossen each won two events to lead the Cougars by the Patriots.

Luna took the 50 (21.68) and 500 freestyles (4:38.68). Granet won the 200 freestyle in 1:54.42 and the 100 butterfly in 59.44, and Nossen claimed the 100 backstroke in 1:01.4 and the 200 individual medley in 2:01.9.

Green Valley 171, Foothill 134 — At Multi-Generational, Michael Velazquez and Austin Lee each won twice as the Gators topped the Falcons.

Velazquez captured the 100 freestyle in 50.47 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.42, and Lee claimed the 100 butterfly in 57.24 and the 200 freestyle in 1:52.85.

Eldorado 138, Chaparral 52 — At Multi-Generational, Montana Coombs, Diego Falcon and Dominik Fiebig all won two events as the Sundevils topped the Cowboys.

Coombs won the 50 (25.37) and 500 freestyles (6:24.53). Falcon took the 100 backstroke in 1:06.2 and the 200 freestyle in 2:08.02, and Fiebig claimed the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.74 and the 100 freestyle in 59.06.

Basic splits — At Multi-Generational, Liam Wetzel won the 100 butterfly in 59.73 and the 200 freestyle in 1:51.44 to help Basic earn a split of its two dual meets.

The Wolves were 195-38 winners over Del Sol, but lost a 162-132 decision to Silverado.

Silverado’s Benjamin Hensel took the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.22 and the 100 freestyle in 50.14, and teammate Jacob Jezek claimed the 100 backstroke in 59.72 and the 200 individual medley in 2:13.03.
