SUNSET SOFTBALL: Dennis, Mustangs outslug visiting Diamondbacks

Kate Dennis went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs on Tuesday to help Shadow Ridge’s softball team outslug visiting Desert Oasis, 11-6 in the opening round of the Sunset Region tournament.

Samantha Milanovich was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Alisha Schultz and Bailey Pepper each went 2-for-3 for the Mustangs, who led 6-0 after three innings.

Shadow Ridge (12-4) will visit Centennial (22-12) in a winners’ bracket semifinal at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Elsy Guzman was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Karly Severance hit a two-run home run for Desert Oasis (12-7), which will host Durango (13-18) in an elimination game at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Centennial 16, Durango 6 — At Centennial, Jaden Tate went 4-for-4 with a double and four RBIs as the Bulldogs rallied from a 6-0 second-inning deficit to rout the Trailblazers (13-18) in five innings.

Brianna Benoit was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Sonja Lawrence and Kiana Tate each went 3-for-4 for Centennial.

Mallory Lawson was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Durango.

Arbor View 7, Bishop Gorman 3 — At Arbor View, Brittany Henricksen went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, a RBI and three runs to help the Aggies down the Gaels.

Bryce Henricksen was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Arbor View (20-7), which will visit Palo Verde (28-8) in a winners’ bracket semifinal at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Gorman (12-20-1) will host Cimarron-Memorial (9-16-1) in an elimination game at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Palo Verde 15, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Palo Verde, Jordan Menke was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBIs, and the Panthers used an 11-run second inning to rout the Spartans in five innings.

Kiley Harrison went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Kali Tomlinson was 3-for-3 for Palo Verde.
