SOFTBALL: Witucki leads Gaels to win

Ashley Witucki went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and two runs Saturday to lead Bishop Gorman’s softball team to an 11-1 six-inning win over Rancho Alamitos (Calif.) in the Savanna Invitational in Anaheim, California.

Samantha Stanfill pitched 4 1/3 innings of relief, allowing one run on two hits, to get the win.

Megan Coyle had a triple for the Gaels.

Bishop Gorman 6, Newport Harbor (Calif.) 6 — At Anaheim, Calif., the Gaels and Sailers played to a tie in a game called after five innings because of the tournament time limit.

Monique Passalacqua went 2-for-3 with a triple for Gorman, and teammate Morgan Blanner was 2-for-3 with a double. Alison Stanfill added a triple for the Gaels.

Samantha Del Toro went 2-for-3 for Newport Harbor.
