SOFTBALL: Wildcats score five runs in seventh to down Silverado

Kaitlyn Horstdaniel and Samantha Taylor each homered in a five-run seventh inning that lifted Las Vegas’ softball team to a 9-5 win at Silverado on Wednesday.

Horstdaniel went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs for the Wildcats, who broke a 4-4 tie with five runs in the top of the seventh. Taylor was 2-for-4 with a double and a three-run homer.

Mary Gregorich was 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Skyhawks. Katherine Dimaya, Alessandra Ponce and Megan Johnson each added two hits for Silverado.

Sunrise Mountain 5, Tech 2 — At Tech, Andrea Garner tossed a five-hitter and had an RBI single as the Miners downed the Roadrunners.

Garner struck out six with no walks and no earned runs.

Amy Locklear was 2-for-3, and Selena Martinez went 2-for-4 for Sunrise Mountain.

Melissa Fuller went 2-for-3 for Tech.

Basic 10, Eldorado 5 — At Basic, Hannah Barr went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and Angela Santillanes drove in three runs with a bases loaded single as the Wolves defeated the Sundevils.

Veronica Velasquez had two doubles and two RBIs, and Daylon Brooks went 3-for-4 for Eldorado.

Foothill 13, Trinity (Pa.) 9 — At Foothill, Sarah Maddox was 2-for-5 with a triple, a home run and three RBIs to lead the Falcons to the win over the Hillers.

Daryan Meade drove in three runs for Foothill.

Sierra Vista 13, Pahrump Valley 3 — At Sierra Vista, Mia Buranamonti went 4-for-4 with a double and eight RBIs to lead the Mountain Lions by the Trojans in five innings.

Winning pitcher Kalei Watkins went 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs, and Daelynn Hilton went 3-for-4 with a triple for Sierra Vista.

Moapa Valley 13, Virgin Valley 3 — At Overton, Aria Messer had a three-run triple, and the Pirates used a five-run fourth inning to defeat the Bulldogs in six innings.

Karsen Cardinal added a double, a single and three RBIs for Moapa Valley, which scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game.

Savannah Price, Adri Wakefield and Shalee Hafen each supplied an RBI double for Virgin Valley.

Boulder City 19, Del Sol 1 — At Boulder City, Bailey Bennett-Jordan tossed a five-inning three-hitter with nine strikeouts and had three hits and four RBIs as the Eagles routed the Dragons.

Charlene Masterson added three hits, and Jordan Moorhead had two hits and three RBIs for Boulder City.

Coronado 23, Valley 1 — At Valley, Taylor Austin spun a five-inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts, and the Cougars scored 11 first-inning runs on their way to a rout of the Vikings in five innings.

Tatum Spangler had a triple and two RBIs, and Basia Query, Sarah Pinkston and Marissa Kopp all had an RBI double for Coronado, which took advantage of 13 errors by Valley.

Green Valley 19, Canyon Springs 2 — At Green Valley, Cinthia Garcia went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and combined with Allie Lamb on a one-hitter as the Gators routed the Pioneers in five innings.

Baylee Means was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Green Valley.

Chaparral 24, Desert Pines 10 — At Desert Pines, Nayeli Rivas went 4-for-4 with two RBIs to help the Cowboys outslug the Jaguars in five innings.

Tabitha Mabry added four hits, and Brandi Vara was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and five RBIs for Chaparral.

Martha Maya was 3-for-3 with four RBIs, and Maiya Richardson went 3-for-3 with a double for Desert Pines.
