SOFTBALL: Taylor Askland’s one-hitter lifts Palo Verde by Arbor View

Palo Verde’s Taylor Askland spun a one-hitter to lead the Panthers’ softball team to a 4-0 home win over Arbor View on Thursday.

Askland was perfect through five innings before allowing a leadoff double to Kayla Rutledge in the sixth. Askland had just one strikeout and didn’t walk a batter.

Cara Beatty went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs for Palo Verde. Makena Martin added a double and two RBIs, and Ally Snelling was 2-for-3 for the Panthers.

Silverado 13, Foothill 9 — At Foothill, Mary Dungey went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, four RBIs and two runs to lead the Skyhawks over the Falcons.

Jaime Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a triple, three runs and an RBI, and Megan Johnson was 2-for-5 with a double, three runs and an RBI for Silverado.

Jocelyn Shupp was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and two RBIs for Foothill.

Eldorado 16, Valley 2 — At Eldorado, Adriana Romero went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and four runs as the Sundevils beat the Vikings in five innings.

Kerri Nasife went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs and an RBI, and Mariana Maldanado was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs for Eldorado.

Gabriella Morales went 1-for-2 with a adouble, a run and an RBI for Valley.

Savanna (Calif.) 11, Bishop Gorman 4 — At Anaheim, Monique Passalacqua went 2-for-3 with a double as the Gaels fell to the Rebels in the Savanna Invitational.

Darian Pancirov also doubled for the Gaels.

Sonora (Calif.) 5, Bishop Gorman 0 — At Anaheim, the Gaels only managed one hit as they fell to the Raiders in the Savanna Invitational.

Centennial 11, Legacy 1 — At Centennial, Deanna Barrera went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and three RBIs, and Skyler Ball was 2-for-3 with three RBIs to help the Bulldogs secure a five-inning win over the Longhorns.

Jasmine Rivera, Seanna Simpson and Kiana Tate all tripled for Centennial, and Gillian Danielson tossed a four-hitter with two strikeouts to earn the win.

Kiana Ting doubled for Legacy.

Basic 15, Canyon Springs 0 — At Basic, Lauren Powell went 2-for-2 with a triple and four RBIs, and Lexie Edmunds was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Wolves past the Pioneers in three innings.

Bailey Cunanan hit a home run, and Shelby Basso doubled twice for Basic, which led 7-0 after the first inning. Jordan Stinnett struck out four and walked one to earn the win for the Wolves.

Amaya Youngblood and Cheyenne Damian singled for Canyon Springs.

Moapa Valley 14, Pahranagat Valley 3 — At Alamo, Emilie Barraza was 4-for-5 with four RBIs, and teammate Lainey Cornwall went 4-for-5 with four RBIs to power the Pirates past the Panthers.

Kaitlyn Anderson finished 3-for-5 with two runs for Moapa Valley, which scored five runs in the third and seventh innings. Daesha Stastny earned the win in the circle and supplied a triple for the Pirates.

Madison Harris, Morgan Harris and Karley Whipple each had two hits to pace Pahranagat Valley.

Shadow Ridge 18, Cimarron-Memorial 1 — At Shadow Ridge, Alisha Schultz and Shea Clements each went 3-for-4, and the Mustangs used a 13-run first inning to defeat the Spartans in three innings.

Schultz had three RBIs, and Clements supplied three triples for Shadow Rridge. Alissa Stanley was 2-for-2 with three RBIs, and Caitlyn Covington provided a double and a triple for the Mustangs.

Shelby Telford had a single to score Tiarra Del Rosario for Cimarron’s lone run.

Tech 18, Desert Pines 3 — At Desert Pines, the Roadrunners exploded for 12 runs in the second inning in a rout of the Jaguars.
