SOFTBALL: Stover’s RBI double lifts Panthers by Mustangs in eight

Brooke Stover doubled to the left-center field gap to score Breanna Beatty with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning Thursday, and Palo Verde’s softball team rallied for a 6-5 victory over visiting Shadow Ridge.

Beatty and Rachael Turner each had singles prior to Stover’s second double of the game.

Stover finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Palo Verde, which scored four runs with two outs in the sixth to take a 5-4 lead.

Turner was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Beatty went 2-for-4.

Joryan Brewer went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Mustangs, who tied the game in the top of the seventh on an error.

Arbor View 3, Spring Valley 1 — At Spring Valley, Ashlyn Ames threw a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks to lead the Aggies past the Grizzlies.

Letty Valenzuela-Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Arbor View, and Ames added a triple.

Madison Macove was 2-for-3, and Moriah Ward and Martinece Robertson each hit a double for Spring Valley.

Sierra Vista 7, Durango 3 — At Durango, Kalei Watkins pitched a complete game, and Mikaela Ishakawa went 3-for-4 with a double as the Mountain Lions beat the Trailblazers.

Watkins added a double, and Brandee Ford was 2-for-3 with a double for Sierra Vista, which earned the No. 4 seed in the Northwest League with the win.

Green Valley 5, Las Vegas 3 — At Green Valley, Samantha Loving pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts as the Gators topped the Wildcats to clinch third place in the Northeast League.

Maggie Manwarren and Amber Calderon each finished 2-for-3 for Green Valley.

Samantha Remer went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Las Vegas, which managed only five hits against Loving.

Rancho 14, Valley 1 — At Valley, Samantha Pochop fired a one-hitter with nine strikeouts as the Rams beat the Vikings in five innings.

Brandy Marlett lashed a solo homer in the fourth inning and added a three-run triple in the fifth for Rancho, which got two hits, two walks and three runs from Sammi Llamas.

Kristina Manthei singled home Baylee Wieslander for Valley’s lone run.

Silverado 16, Canyon Springs 5 — At Silverado, Arieana Monturio was 3-for-3 with a double, and Heaven Calhoun added a two-run homer to lift the Skyhawks past the Pioneers in five innings.

Rya Anderson was 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, and Brianna Lazaro went 3-for-4 for Silverado, which had 18 hits. Brandi Splinter struck out six in 3 2/3 innings to earn the win for the Skyhawks.

Tea Rivera led Canyon Springs with a single and two RBIs.

Cheyenne 19, Eldorado 14 — At Eldorado, Brittany Leeds was 5-for-6 with two doubles, three RBIs and three runs, and the Desert Shields broke an 11-11 tie with eight runs in the seventh inning.

Brittny Phillips, Taylor Cole, Alyssa Fata and Italy Mora each had two hits for Cheyenne.

Sabrina Summers had three hits and four RBIs, and Keelyn Pacheco added three hits for Eldorado. Kristie Thomas notched two hits and three RBIs for the Sundevils.

Boulder City 10, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Boulder City, Charlene Masterson went 3-for-3 and tossed a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts as the Eagles defeated the Miners in five innings.

Masterson doubled, homered and finished with four RBIs.

Summer Smith and Nicole Schulz each went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Boulder City, which scored all of its runs in the first inning.

Chaparral 14, Desert Pines 3 — At Desert Pines, Yadira Onteveros and Nayeli Rivas each had three hits to help the Cowboys top the Jaguars in six innings.

Vanessa Donham homered for Chaparral.

Melissa Benford and Regina Villeda each had two hits for Desert Pines.

Moapa Valley 14, Tech 13 — At Overton, Linna Hernandez’s RBI single capped a nine-run seventh inning as the Pirates stunned the Roadrunners.

Liz Robertson went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, including a three-run home run in the seventh inning, and Hernandez finished with three hits.

Bailey Owens and Shayla Pratt had four hits apiece, and Haley Nielsen provided two hits and three RBIs for Moapa Valley.

Kimmie Rodriguez was 4-for-4 with two home runs, two doubles and five RBIs, and Jasmine Ramos added two doubles, three runs and an RBI for Tech.

Mountain View 25-17, Calvary Chapel 7-4 — At Mountain View, Savannah Alley was 3-for-3 with two triples, a double, four RBIs and a stolen base in the second game to help the Saints sweep the Lions.

Alley struck out seven in five innings in the nightcap, and Susan Muehleisen was 2-for-3 for Mountain View.

Monica Mejorada went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, and Sydney Bendrick was 1-for-2 with a triple in the second game for Calvary Chapel. Mejorada finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in the first game.

Rose Adkins singled, drove in four runs and had two stolen bases for the Saints in the opener, and teammate Dominique Gordon was 2-for-4.

Needles 18-12, The Meadows 0-1 — At The Meadows, Demi Limon was 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and scored two runs in the second game as Needles completed the sweep.

Melanie Leslie-Merchain was 2-for-3 for Needles, which scored nine runs in the fifth inning of the nightcap.

Jacqui Adams had an RBI single for The Meadows.

In the opener, Needles scored 10 runs in the first to coast to the five-inning win. Limon finished 3-for-3 with a two-run homer and three runs, and Leslie-Merchain was 2-for-3 with a home run.
