SOFTBALL: Rancho’s Pochop strikes out 15 in no-hitter

Samantha Pochop tossed a no-hitter and struck out 15 on Wednesday to help Rancho’s softball team top visiting Desert Oasis, 8-0.

Pochop and Vega each singled for the Rams, who had just two hits, but scored all of their runs in the fourth inning.

Cimarron-Memorial 6, Sierra Vista 5 — At Sierra Vista, Sarah Murphy was 3-for-4 with a home run to lift the Spartans over the Mountain Lions.

Kalei Watkins was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Sierra Vista.

Silverado 10, Spring Valley 9 — At Spring Valley, Taryn Southerland doubled and tripled, and Madison Sisco had three hits to help the Skyhawks edge the Grizzlies.

Palo Verde 13, Foothill 3 — At Palo Verde, Lauren Oxford went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Brooke Stover and Melissa Lacro each went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs as the Panthers routed the Falcons in five innings.

Dejanae Gage added two hits and two RBIs for Palo Verde, which got a home run from Rachel Williams.

Alexia Campbell homered for Foothill.

Cheyenne 22, Desert Pines 1 — At Cheyenne, Jonnette Paddy tossed a five-inning two-hitter and struck out 10 to help the Desert Shields rout the Jaguars.

Destiny Gain finished 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, four runs and an RBI, and Italy Mora was 2-for-2 with a double and four RBIs for Cheyenne.

Faith Lutheran 20, Virgin Valley 3 — At Mesquite, Brianna Hemphill and Lauryn Lipe each supplied two hits and two RBIs as the Crusaders routed the Bulldogs in five innings.

Kelsey Marks had three hits for Faith Lutheran.

Maggie Dobbs was 2-for-3 with an RBI double for Virgin Valley.

Arbor View 12, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Ashlyn Ames tossed a five-inning three-hitter with six strikeouts and supplied a double as the Aggies took down the Sundevils.

Kayla Stephens doubled twice for Arbor View, which led 10-0 after three innings.

Las Vegas 17, Bonanza 7 — At Las Vegas, Samantha Remer had two hits and two RBIs, and the Wildcats used a 10-run first to rout the Bengals in five innings.

Raquell Hoyes and Caitlyn Lloyd each provided two hits for Bonanza.

Western 17, Canyon Springs 6 — At Canyon Springs, Brenda Sandoval went 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs, and Jenessa Dunton was 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs as the Warriors downed the Pioneers in six innings.

Western had just seven hits, but took advantage of 17 walks.

Emilee Kaye had a triple and two RBIs, and Tiara Fondrin and Jhabre Wright had two hits apiece for Canyon Springs.

Chaparral 16, Del Sol 9 — At Chaparral, Nayeli Rivas went 4-for-4 with a double to help the Cowboys top the Dragons.

Stephanie Romero and Justine Villa each went 2-for-3 for Chaparral.

Hurricane (Utah) 3, Lincoln County 1 — At Hurricane, Utah, the Tigers broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to nip the Lynx.

Kaylee Teel had an RBI double for Lincoln County.
