SOFTBALL: Olmos, Patriots top Skyhawks in eighth to win Southeast title

Marisa Olmos’ single to center field with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning plated Cali Christopher with the winning run Monday as host Liberty’s softball team won the Southeast League title with a 7-6 win over Silverado.

Christopher singled to lead off the bottom of the eighth and advanced to second on a passed ball before Olmos singled to end the game.

Christopher was 3-for-4 with a double, and winning pitcher Breanna Alvarez was 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Patriots. Olmos was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Sarah Ford went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Alessandra Ponce was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Skyhawks.

Sunrise Mountain 7, Virgin Valley 4 — At Sunrise Mountain, Denise Terzoli was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and the Miners scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to nip the Bulldogs.

Monica Fears was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Klarissa Hernandez went 2-for-3 for Sunrise Mountain.

Janella Fiso was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Virgin Valley.

Palo Verde 5, Bishop Gorman 2 — At Gorman, Makall Whetten went 2-for-4, and the Panthers used a four-run third inning to down the Gaels.

Haylee Lupinetti and Kelsea Sweeney combined on a six-hitter for Palo Verde.

Ashley Witucki had a two-run home run, and Monique Passalacqua added two hits for Gorman.

Moapa Valley 5, Tech 1 — At Overton, Kinlee Marshall went 3-for-3 as the Pirates topped the Roadrunners.

Melissa Fuller and Lisette Sanchez each went 2-for-3 for Tech.

Del Sol 12, Desert Pines 4 — At Del Sol, Alina Marruffo went 3-for-4 with a double as the Dragons cruised past the Jaguars.

Jeanette Poulsen was 3-for-4, and Noa Bowie went 2-for-2 for Del Sol.

Maiya Richardson was 4-for-4 with a double for Desert Pines.

Boulder City 11, Chaparral 0 — At Chaparral, Charlene Masterson tossed a five-inning two-hitter with six strikeouts and went 4-for-4 to lead the Eagles by the Cowboys.

Kylee Hamel and Jerra Hinson each went 2-for-3, and Alyssa Ybarra had a single and two RBIs for Boulder City.

Shadow Ridge 11, Durango 1 — At Shadow Ridge, Shelbi Denman spun a five-inning one-hitter and struck out nine as the Mustangs topped the Trailblazers.

Alisha Schultz went 3-for-4 with a double, and Marisa Miano was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Shadow Ridge, which also got a 2-for-3 effort from Kate Dennis.

Mallory Lawson had a solo home run in the fourth inning for Durango.

Legacy 12, Bonanza 1 — At Bonanza, Haley Pederson tossed a five-inning four-hitter as the Longhorns topped the Bengals.

Alyssa Sotelo homered and had two RBIs, and Eliza Ledesma-Esparza had a double, a single and two RBIs for Legacy.

Alexis Owensby was 1-for-2 with an RBI for Bonanza.

Las Vegas 15, Canyon Springs 0 — At Las Vegas, Marico Davis was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and the Wildcats used a 10-run first inning to rout the Pioneers in five innings.

Melina Fabian was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Paulina Franco went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Las Vegas, which also got two hits apiece from Skyler Gorrell and Sabrina Saldate.

Gorrell and Samantha Taylor combined on a one-hitter.
