SOFTBALL: Kalei Watkins powers Sierra Vista past Bishop Gorman

Kalei Watkins was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and earned the win in relief as Sierra Vista’s softball team beat host Bishop Gorman 14-10 on Wednesday.

Daelynn Hilton added two hits and four RBIs for the Mountain Lions, who scored 11 runs in the third inning.

Reyna Martin finished 4-for-5 with a double, a triple and four runs for Gorman. Monique Passalacqua was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and six RBIs for the Gaels.

Centennial 14, Arbor View 7 — At Arbor View, Seanna Simpson went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Rhea Paiva had two hits and two RBIs as the Bulldogs topped the Aggies.

Skyler Ball, Makenzie Ball, and Brianna Benoit each hit a double for Centennial, which led 10-2 after six innings.

Lexi Province drove in two runs for Arbor View, and Taylor Beaman, Makenzie Gillan, and Roxanne Ines each had a double for the Aggies.

Mojave 11, Desert Pines 1 — At Mojave, Emilee Mitton was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI as the Rattlers topped the Jaguars in five innings.

Ariel Wilson was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Jesika Smith went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Mojave. Essence McRae drove in two runs for the Rattlers.

Wilson struck out six and allowed one run on four hits in four innings to get the win.

Western 15, Sunrise Mountain 5 — At Western, Jenessa Dunton had three hits, and Arianna Lawson had two hits as the Warriors defeated the Miners in five innings.

Makalita Moeaki pitched a three-hitter to get the win.

Bonanza 16, Clark 1 — At Bonanza, Evalynn Sandoval had a triple and three RBIs as the Bengals routed the Chargers in three innings.

Leilani Rios added a double and two RBIs, and Sara Riley had a double and an RBI for Bonanza, which scored 13 runs in the bottom of the first.

McKenna Llano pitched a two-hitter with four strikeouts to get the win.

Desert Oasis 25, Durango 6 — At Durango, Meaghan McInerney was 5-for-5 with two home runs and nine RBIs as the Diamondbacks outslugged the Trailblazers.

Elsy Guzman went 2-for-4 with a grand slam, and Holly Severance doubled and homered for Desert Oasis. Guzman also tossed two innings of scoreless relief, striking out six, for the Diamondbacks.

Alexis Geraldo supplied a two-run homer, Kaitlin Fazendin homered, and teammate Keely Thompson finished 3-for-3 to lead Durango.
