SOFTBALL: Gage’s big day helps Panthers to easy victory

Dejanae Gage went 2-for-4 with a homer and five RBIs Saturday to help host Palo Verde’s softball team top Canyon View (Utah), 10-0 in five innings.

Grace Chavez went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, and Emily Guthrie hit a two-run homer for Palo Verde. Kiley Harrison was 2-for-2 for the Panthers.

Haylee Lupinetti, Taylor Askland and Kelsea Sweeney combined on a two-hitter for Palo Verde.

Kaitlyn Delange was 2-for-2 with a double for the Falcons.

Desert Oasis 7, Green Valley 4 — At Desert Oasis, the Diamondbacks scored six runs in the fourth inning to top the Gators.

Karly Severance was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead Desert Oasis. Shonda Badayos added a double and two RBIs and also pitched 3 2/3 innings of relief, allowing a run on three hits, to get the win.

Jinger Meuir was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for Green Valley, which led 3-1 going into the bottom of the fourth.

Arbor View 10, Liberty 0 — At Arbor View, Bryce Henricksen went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to help the Aggies to a five-inning win over the Patriots.

Taylor Beaman was 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Kayla Stephens had two doubles and two RBIs for Arbor View, which scored five runs in the third to pull away.

Breanne Henricksen spun a two-hitter with three strikeouts and one walk to get the win.

Bishop Gorman 5, Dixie (Utah) 3 — At Gorman, Megan Coyle’s two-run double put the Gaels ahead 3-2 and the held on to beat the Flyers.

Monique Passalacqua had a double and a single, and Hannah Gondini singled twice for Gorman, which scored four runs in the third inning to take a 5-2 lead.

Foothill 9, Faith Lutheran 5 — At Foothill, Daryan Meade went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and two runs to help the Falcons top the Crusaders.

Alexia Campbell was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Jasmine Dukes went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs for Foothill.

Samantha Jack was 2-for-3 with a triple, a run and an RBI, and Makena Martin went 1-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for Faith Lutheran.
