SOFTBALL: Desert Pines snaps 104-game losing streak with win over Clark

Cassandra Bueno had three hits and two RBIs Monday to lead Desert Pines’s softball team to a 22-8 road win over Clark, snapping the team’s 104-game losing streak.

Maiya Richardson threw a five-hitter with six strikeouts and added an RBI double for Desert Pines. The Jaguars last victory was a 21-13 win over Sunrise Mountain on May 4, 2010.

Kelly Tolayo-Nunez, Martha Maya, Vira Tavita and Larisa Rios-Lizarraga each added an RBI for Desert Pines, which took advantage of 19 walks and eight Clark errors.

Stephanie Warren had an RBI triple for the Chargers.

Coronado 8, Foothill 5 — At Foothill, Sarah Pinkston was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI to help the Cougars top the Falcons.

Ashley Ward was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Tatum Spangler went 2-for-2 for Coronado.

Lexie Campbell was 3-for-4 with a solo home run for Foothill.

Alexis Farias went 3-for-3 with a double for the Falcons.

Liberty 16, Green Valley 8 — At Liberty, Cali Christopher went 4-for-5 with a triple, a double and two RBIs to help the Patriots top the Gators.

Breanna Alvarez was 3-for-5 with a triple and four RBIs, and Marisa Olmos went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and two RBIs for Liberty. Morgan LaNeve went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs for the Patriots.

Alexa Blazek was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Green Valley.

Palo Verde 14, Bishop Gorman 0 — At Palo Verde, Kali Tomlinson went 3-for-3 with two doubles, and Samantha Wade was 2-for-3 with two doubles to help the Panthers rout the Gaels in five innings.

McKenzie Ryan was 2-for-2 with a triple, and Lauryn Barker hit a three-run home run for Palo Verde, which scored 13 runs in the fourth inning.

Taylor Askland and Haylee Lupinetti combined on a two-hitter for Palo Verde.

Moapa Valley 10, Tech 0 — At Overton, Daesha Stastny threw a one-hitter to lead the Pirates to the five-inning win over the Roadrunners.

Stastny gave up a leadoff single in the first. She struck out five with no walks.

Tapanga Durham went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, and teammate Devony Cooper was 3-for-4 for Moapa Valley.

Legacy 16, Del Sol 6 — At Legacy, Alyssa Sotelo was 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs as the Longhorns defeated the Dragons in six innings.

Haley Pedersen was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and teammate Clarissa Lona went 2-for-4 with four runs and an RBI for Legacy.

Winning pitcher Amanda Sink allowed one hit and struck out nine in four innings of relief.

Alina Marruffo was 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs for Del Sol.

Spring Valley 14, Bonanza 1 — At Spring Valley, winning pitcher Teegan Teal went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, and the Grizzlies used a 10-run second inning to down the Bengals in five innings.

Vivian Quiroz-Montano was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Michaela Hood went 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Spring Valley.

Caitlyn Lloyd was 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI for Bonanza.

Rancho 18, Valley 5 — At Valley, Gianna Carosone went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs to lead the Rams past the Vikings in five innings.

Samantha Pochop was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and Tiare Lee went 2-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI for Rancho.

Jahnae Davis-Houston was 2-for-5 with a double for the Rams.

Basic 27, Canyon Springs 1 — At Basic, Bailey Cunanan had a home run and four RBIs as the Wolves routed the Pioneers in five innings.

Mikayla Berg and Hannah Barr each drove in three runs, and Happy Butler had a double and two RBIs for Basic, which scored 11 runs in the first.

Lexie Edmunds threw a one-hitter with nine strikeouts and four walks to get the win.

Silverado 17, Eldorado 2 — At Silverado, Megan Johnson was 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and four RBIs to power the Skyhawks to the five-inning win over the Sundevils.

Sarah Ford went 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs, and teammate Jaime Gonzalez went 2-for-2 with two doubles for Silverado, which scored 13 runs in the third inning.
