SOFTBALL: Cerrone fires shutout as Bulldogs wrap up league title

Jennifer Cerrone tossed a two-hitter and struck out two Wednesday as Centennial’s softball team wrapped up the Southwest League title with a 9-0 win over Bishop Gorman.

Savannah Horvath homered twice and drove in four runs, and Lauren Stroman homered, tripled and doubled for the Bulldogs. Heather Bowen belted a two-run homer, and Ashley Ross had two hits for Centennial.

Bishop Gorman turned a triple play in the third inning.

Mojave 11, Pahrump Valley 9 — At Pahrump, Vanessa Rojas and Jordan Battle each had an RBI single in the ninth inning as the Rattlers outlasted the Trojans.

Danette Daguiar was 3-for-4 with a home run, and Terren Vinson was 3-for-5 for Mojave, which got two hits from Ashley Persico.

Kristal Kaiwi was 2-for-5 with two doubles for Pahrump, which scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game, 9-9.

Liberty 11, Basic 1 — At Liberty, Breanna Alvarez spun a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and no earned runs to lead the Patriots to a five-inning win over the Wolves.

Alzarez supplied a two-run triple and a single, and Shaena Rumusod’s two-run single ended the game for Liberty. Jenn Story and Kelsey Camat-Toki each supplied two hits and an RBI for the Patriots.

Rachel Snyder had two hits for Basic.

Desert Oasis 12, Legacy 2 — At Legacy, winning pitcher Shonda Badayos was 4-for-4 with three doubles, four RBIs and two runs as the Diamondbacks downed the Longhorns in five innings.

May Dacquel and Elsy Guzman each supplied two hits and an RBI for Desert Oasis, which got an RBI triple from Meagan Anders.

Kaila Haslem had two hits, and Melissa Martinez added a run-scoring double for Legacy.

Cheyenne 13, Western 3 — At Western, Brittany Leeds went 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs to help power the Desert Shields past the Warriors in five innings.

Winning pitcher Alyssa Fata hit a two-run double for Cheyenne, which scored nine runs in the first inning.

Kassidy Pahia was 2-for-3 with a double, and Belinda Sandoval went 2-for-3 for Western.

Faith Lutheran 14, Clark 0 — At Clark, Lauren Beatty tossed a four-hitter with five strikeouts and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs as the Crusaders routed the Chargers in five innings.

Lauryn Lipe went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs, and Bri Yee and Dani Tharaldson each went 2-for-4 with a double for Faith Lutheran.

Eldorado 15, Del Sol 0 — At Eldorado, Kristie Thomas fired a five-inning two-hitter with six strikeouts to guide the Sundevils by the Dragons.

Brook Ortiz provided a two-run triple and an RBI double, and Keelyn Pacheco added a single and an RBI double for Eldorado.

Cimarron-Memorial 18, Bonanza 0 — At Cimarron, Rosie Del Rosario went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, and Carmen Hasbrouck was 2-for-2 with four RBIs as the Spartans blanked the Bengals in five innings.

Alexa Snyder and Michelle Knott combined on a one-hitter for Cimarron.

Sarah Murphy was 3-for-5, and Becca Johnson went 2-for-3 for the Spartans, who scored 10 runs in the first inning.
