Roundup: Makena Martin’s homer keeps Palo Verde perfect in league play

Makena Martin hit a walk-off, two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday to complete Palo Verde’s rally and help the Panthers’ softball team beat visiting Faith Lutheran, 5-4.

Palo Verde trailed 4-1 going into the bottom of the seventh, and improved to 13-0 in Northwest League play.

Makall Whetten hit a solo home run, and Jessica Hopkins hit two doubles for Palo Verde.

Audrey Kirsch had a two-run double, and Sophie Foster went 3-for-4 for Faith Lutheran.

Eldorado 6, Silverdo 5 — At Silverado, Roshonda Stevens scored the go-ahead run on an error in the seventh inning to help the Sundevils erase a two-run deficit and topple the Skyhawks.

Mariana Maldonado doubled for the Sundevils, who trailed 5-2 entering the seventh.

Megan Johnson homered for the Skyhawks, and Alexa Ostolaza tripled.

Coronado 2, Foothill 0 — At Coronado, Tatum Spangler fired a complete-game one-hitter with 10 strikeouts as the Cougars blanked the Falcons.

Spangler gave herself all the runs she needed, leading off the bottom of the first with a double and scoring from third on a passed ball.

Madison Stephens hit a run-scoring single in the sixth for Coronado.

Leah Becker rang up seven strikeouts for Foothill.

Shadow Ridge 9, Centennial 3 — At Shadow Ridge, Caitlyn Covington was 4-for-4 with a home run, double, three runs and three RBIs to power the Mustangs over the Bulldogs.

Alyssa Stanley scored twice for the Mustangs, and Angelina Esqueda was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run.

Natasha Lawrence tripled for the Bulldogs, and Maddie Kallfelz doubled.

Pahrump Valley 4, Bonanza 3 — At Bonanza, Skyler Lauver was 2-for-2 with an RBI to lift the Trojans to a victory over the Bengals.

Taylor Egan was 2-for-3 with a double and earned the win as a pitcher for Pahrump Valley.

Carla LaRosa was 3-for-4 with a double for Bonanza.

Desert Oasis 17, Bishop Gorman 3 — At Bishop Gorman, Fia Tofi was 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs to power the Diamondbacks past the Gaels.

Holly Severance doubled twice and drove in two runs for Desert Oasis, which scored eight runs in the top of the fifth to pull away.

Darian Pancirov had two hits and two RBIs to pace Gorman.

Arbor View 16, Legacy 1 — At Arbor View, Hannah Hickstein was 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs as the Aggies routed the Longhorns in four innings.

Kaylea Patridge went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI for Arbor View.

Torii Forsberg pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts to earn the win.

Durango 17, Clark 1 — At Durango, Keely Thompson went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs as the Trailblazers rolled to the three-inning win over the Chargers.

Madison Boyce pitched a four-hitter to get the win.

Basic 17, Valley 1 — At Valley, Mikayla Berg had three hits, three RBIs and two runs to help the Wolves to a five-inning win over the Vikings.

Berg doubled twice, and Anela Santillanes and Kassidi Ziegenhagen each tripled for Basic.

Gabriella Morales doubled and drove in a run for Valley.

Liberty 18, Las Vegas 1 — At Las Vegas High, Jasmine Gonzalez was 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, and the Patriots routed the Wildcats in five innings.

Jordan LaSpina went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Morgan LaNeve added two hits and two RBIs for Liberty. Soraya Seumalo allowed two hits and no earned runs to get the win in the circle for the Patriots.

Sarina Ramirez had two hits and a run to pace Las Vegas.

Sierra Vista 15, Spring Valley 0 — At Spring Valley, Jessica Schneider had a triple, double, four RBIs and three runs as the Mountain Lions blew by the Grizzlies in four innings.

Jamie Kalaau-Sunia homered and had four RBIs for the Mountain Lions, and Daelynn Hilton homered and knocked in two.

Sierra Vista’s Hola Rosalia Nakayama and Sarena Lopez both doubled.

Green Valley 17, Canyon Springs 1 — At Canyon Springs, the Gators scored nine runs in the first inning and rolled past the Pioneers.

The Meadows 10-15, Mountain View 17-13 — At The Meadows, the Mustangs scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning of the nightcap to salvage a split with the Saints.

Bentley Jimmerson had two hits and three RBIs in the second game as the Mustangs rallied from a 13-5 deficit and won in four innings.

Julia Sevilla had two hits for Mountain View in the finale.

In the first game, Miah Fields-Gibbens, Valerie Gonzalez and Anabelle Agramon each drove in three runs as Mountain View won in three innings. The Saints scored 13 runs in the second inning.

Lincoln County 19-16, Democracy Prep 0-1 — At Democracy Prep, the Lynx swept a doubleheader against the Blue Knights.
