ROUNDUP: Centennial’s Huntly gets help from defense, downs Legacy

Taylor Huntly tossed a five-hitter Thursday to help Centennial’s softball team to a 5-1 win over visiting Legacy.

Huntly struck out only two, but carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning and faced the minimum 18 hitters in the first six innings.

Savannah Horvath was 3-for-3 with a two-run home run for the Bulldogs, and teammate Lacie Chakos went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Five Longhorns singled during the final two innings.

Clark 15, Western 0 — At Clark, Julia Hagen spun a no-hitter and fanned 11 to lead the Chargers to an easy win over the Warriors.

Hagen also went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs for Clark, which scored 11 runs in the final two innings.

Bonanza 8, Sierra Vista 3 — At Sierra Vista, Madison Means was 3-for-4 with two runs scored as the Bengals topped the Mountain Lions.

Alexis Land went 4-for-4 with a double to lead Sierra Vista, which got a solo home run from Sydney Land.

Spring Valley 3, Pahrump Valley 0  — At Pahrump, Georgi DeLio went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI as the Grizzlies blanked the Trojans.

Ashley Coate tossed a three-hitter with six strikeouts for Spring Valley.

Cimarron-Memorial 8, Shadow Ridge 3 — At Shadow Ridge, Sabrina Chavez and Sarah Murphy each went 2-for-4, and the Spartans used a pair of four-run innings to top the Mustangs.

Krislyn Campos was 3-for-4 with a triple and a double for Shadow Ridge, and teammate Danielle Buecker was 2-for-2.

Bishop Gorman 4, Desert Oasis 1 — At Desert Oasis, Dayton Yingling went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and an RBI as the Gaels defeated the Diamondbacks.

Yingling tossed a six-hitter for Gorman.

Las Vegas 6, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Las Vegas High, Kristina Nelson tossed a one-hitter and struck out 15 to lead the Wildcats by the Miners.

Cierra Turner, Erin Glidden and Jasmina Salas each had two of Las Vegas’ 10 hits.

Cheyenne 22, Mojave 4 — At Cheyenne, Vanessa Sanders doubled and drove in four runs as the Desert Shields routed the Rattlers in five innings.

Cheyenne, which scored 12 runs in the first inning, had only six hits in the game.

Katie Rivas went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Mojave.

Palo Verde 14, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Rachael Turner was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a home run and two RBIs as the Panthers routed the Crusaders in six innings.

Rachael Williams pitched five shutout innings with five strikeouts, and also went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Palo Verde.

Amanda Young went 2-for-2 for Faith Lutheran.

Arbor View 10, Durango 0 — At Arbor View, Chelsa Baca went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs to aid the Aggies in a five-inning win over the Trailblazers.

Winning pitcher Ashlyn Ames went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and teammate Kiana Kamaka was 2-for-3 with two runs for Arbor View.

Norco (Calif.) 4, Coronado 0 — At Torrance, Calif, Emily Locknan tossed a two-hitter and struck out five as Norco downed Coronado in the National Invitational Tournament.

Norco is ranked No. 2 nationally in ESPN’s Fab 50.

Katie Cochran singled and doubled for Coronado’s only hits.

Foothill 3, Piedra Vista (N.M.) 2 — At Torrance, Calif., Alex Petrolia tossed a five-hitter and struck out eight to lead the Falcons past the Panthers in the National Invitational Tournament.

Palmer Bosanko had an RBI double, and Petrolia added a run-scoring single in the Falcons’ three-run fifth inning.

Foothill 2, Port of Los Angeles 1 — At Torrance, Calif., Rhiana Balaun’s two-run homer in the first inning was just enough offense as the Falcons downed the Polar Bears in the National Invitational Tournament.

Petrolia tossed a three-hitter for Foothill.

Green Valley 11, Sunnyslope (Ariz.) 0 — At Torrance, Calif., Fenixx Henderson pitched a four-inning three-hitter and struck out six as the Gators topped Sunnyslope in the National Invitational Tournament.

Henderson and Autumn Owens each homered for Green Valley.
