ROUNDUP: Barnes’ late single helps Crusaders edge Desert Shields

Maya Barnes’ two-out single plated Nicole Tayrian with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday as Faith Lutheran’s softball team scored twice in the seventh for an 8-7 win over visiting Cheyenne.

The Cruaders trailed 7-6 with two outs and the bases empty in the seventh before two walks, sandwiched around a fielder’s choice, loaded the bases.

Rachel Kerr walked to force home Rachel Smith with the tying run, and Barnes followed with a single through the left side.

Barnes was 2-for-5 with a run, and Lauryn Lipe went 2-for-4 for Faith Lutheran.

Vanessa Sanders was 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and three RBIs, and Rachel Holly went 2-for-5 with a triple and a double for Cheyenne.

Arbor View 5, Legacy 3 — At Arbor View, Karli Lehr went 2-for-4 with two RBIs as the Aggies squeezed past the Longhorns.

Nichole Diaz went 2-for-4 with a RBI for Arbor View.

Centennial 16, Shadow Ridge 6 — At Centennial, Heather Bowen went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, and every Bulldog starter had at least two hits as Centennial routed the Mustangs in five innings.

Savannah Horvath was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Kylie Bartlett went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Centennial, which had 20 hits and erased a 6-4 deficit in the fourth inning by scoring six runs in the fourth and ending the game with six in the fifth.

Sabriya Brooks went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, and Jasmine Bouie was 2-for-3 with a triple for Shadow Ridge.

Desert Oasis 14, Sierra Vista 0 — At Desert Oasis, Lenzi Cram threw a no-hitter in a relief effort as the Diamondbacks routed the Mountain Lions in five innings.

After starter C.J. Wilson walked the first two Sierra Vista hitters, Cram came in and got all 15 outs without allowing a hit.

Cram also went 3-for-4 with a triple and five RBIs.

Dayana Gage was 4-for-4 with three runs scored, and Wilson was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for Desert Oasis.

Durango 8, Pahrump Valley 1 — At Durango, Samantha Juarez went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and four RBIs to help the Trailblazers top the Trojans.

Mindy Larson went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs, and Nicole Schultz was 3-for-4 with two doubles for Durango.

Spring Valley 13, Bishop Gorman 2 — At Gorman, Rikki Kirchefer went 3-for-3 with four RBIs to lead the Grizzlies past the Gaels in six innings.

Georgi DeLio added a three-run home run for Spring Valley, which trailed 2-1 entering the fifth inning but scored six runs in the fifth and six more in the sixth.

Bonanza 22, Western 5 — At Western, Emily Osborn and Kayla Desjardin each went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles as the Bengals blitzed the Warriors in five innings.

Chaparral 10, Valley 5 — At Chaparral, Valerie Talamantez was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and the Cowboys rallied from a 5-0 first-inning deficit to down the Vikings.

Talamantez also pitched 6 2/3 innings of relief, allowing one run on five hits to go along with eight strikeouts.

Kendy Reynoso was 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBIs and a run for Chaparral.

Clark 6, Rancho 4 — At Rancho, Julia Hagen had two hits and two RBIs and scattered six hits to pick up the victory.

Kaitlyn Szeles added a double and two RBIs for Clark.

Rancho’s Amber Marlett had two hits and an RBI. She also went the distance in the circle, allowing one earned run and striking out 12.
