Local tournaments highlight prep softball schedule
Seventeen Southern Nevada softball teams will spend the first part of their spring break trying to win a tournament title.
The Spring Jamboree and Charger Invitational softball tournaments begin Monday and run through Wednesday and should showcase some of the top high school talent in California and Nevada.
A total of 32 teams are entered in the Charger Invitational at West Flamingo Park.
Cimarron-Memorial, Desert Oasis, Green Valley, Shadow Ridge, Valley and host Clark all will vie for one of the four tournament championships against a field largely comprised of California schools.
Each team will play three pool games and a minimum of two bracket games in the three-day event.
Meanwhile, a mainly local field will compete in the 15-team Spring Jamboree at Majestic Park.
Entered in the event are: Arbor View, Bishop Gorman, Bonanza, Centennial, Cheyenne, Coronado, Durango, Foothill, Liberty, Palo Verde and Rancho. Centennial is the defending champion.
Each team will play two pool and at least one cross-pool games before bracket play.
