Kyla Shumway helps Pahranagat Valley softball sweep Tonopah

Kyla Shumway went 3-for-3 with two home runs in the opener as Pahranagat Valley’s softball team concluded its regular season Tuesday with an 18-3, 14-4 sweep of visiting Tonopah.

Morgan Harris went 4-for-4 with a home run, and Ashlyn Wadsworth was 3-for-3 with two RBIs in the opener for Pahranagat Valley, which won the first game in four innings and the nightcap in five innings.

Wadsworth was 2-for-3, and Karley Whipple had four RBIs in the second game for the Panthers. Kaitlin Higbee added two hits and two RBIs in the second game for Pahranagat Valley, which led 8-0 after one inning.

The Panthers are the top seed for the Class 1A Southern League playoffs, which begin Thursday.

Belle Gonzalez had an RBI triple in the second game for Tonopah. The Muckers are the No. 4 seed for the Southern League playoffs.
