CLASS 2A HONORS: Needles sweeps league awards

Needles swept the top awards in Class 2A Southern League softball, as coaches voted sophomore pitcher Abby Chandler the Most Valuable Player and Sandy Chandler the Coach of the Year.

The Mustangs went 22-11 this season, tying Lincoln County for the regular-season league title at 11-1.

State awards in 2A went to Northern Nevada teams, as coaches voted Yerington junior pitcher Katie Nicholas the MVP and White Pine’s Krystal Smith the Coach of the Year.
