ROUNDUP: Tuiofea’s penalty kick helps Panthers edge Bulldogs

Sila Tuiofea connected on a penalty kick in the 22nd minute Tuesday to lift Palo Verde’s girls soccer team to a 1-0 home win over Centennial.

The Panthers remained tied with Arbor View for first place in the Northwest League. Both teams completed the first round of league play at 6-1. Centennial and Shadow Ridge are tied for third at 5-2.

Stacie Gubler earned the shutout with seven saves, including a stop on a breakaway with eight minutes left in the match.

Shadow Ridge 8, Cheyenne 0 — At Cheyenne, Mackenzie Espiritu tallied three goals, and Taylor Lopez added two goals and an assist as the Mustangs routed the Desert Shields.

Meghan Cordero added a goal and an assist for Shadow Ridge, which also got goals from Vanessa Pena and Erica Watson.

Dallas Gunny made seven saves en route to the shutout.

Arbor View 6, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Arbor View, Falon Miller netted three goals, and Tara LeBaron supplied two goals and two assists as the Aggies moved past the Spartans.

Amberley Halstead added a goal and an assist for Arbor View.

Kyla Salazar and Hayley Fife combined on the shutout.

Legacy 2, Mojave 1 — At Mojave, Bianca Boyt scored a first-half goal, and the Longhorns took advantage of an own goal to edge the Rattlers.

Helena Hernandez scored for Mojave.

Desert Oasis 4, Western 1 — At Western, Rachel Handelman notched two goals to lead the Diamondbacks past the Warriors.

Cassidy Motis and Lynsey Hutchins also scored for Desert Oasis.

Jennifer Yanez scored Western’s goal.

Spring Valley 9, Clark 0 — At Clark, Markie Henderson tallied five goals to lead the Grizzlies past the Chargers.

Abigail Barajas added two goals, and Bailey Boyack and Alexa Hunt also scored for Spring Valley.

Megan Delaney was in goal to claim the shutout.

Bishop Gorman 9, Sierra Vista 0 — At Gorman, Kaila Brinkman and Ally Ocon each recorded two goals and an assist, and Haley Wingender notched a goal and two assists to power the Gaels past the Mountain Lions.

Malika Markham and Sierra Doehrmann each added a goal and an assist, and Kylie Kircher and Chloe Tucker supplied a goal apiece for Gorman.

Samantha Higgins and Angelica Pawlowski combined on the shutout.

Bonanza 5, Durango 1 — At Durango, Kara Kwasniowski had two goals to help the Bengals top the Trailblazers.

Haley Davidson, Megan Cousineau and Rachael DeLaPaz also scored for Bonanza.

Tania Diaz had Durango’s goal.
