Roundup: Taylor Cox’s late goal gives the Gaels a win over the Gators

Taylor Cox scored with five minutes to play Wednesday to give Bishop Gorman’s girls soccer team a 2-1 home win over Green Valley.

The Gators took a 1-0 lead in the 43rd minute on a goal by Karina Gonzalez.

Gorman’s Samantha Nieves tied the game with 25 minutes to play, setting up Cox’s winner.

Liberty 1, Coronado 1 — At Coronado, Mia Edwards scored on a penalty kick in the 65th minute as the Patriots tied with the Cougars.

Simone Hottentot scored early in the second half off an assist from Alexis Pashales for Coronado.

Clark 1, Basic 0 — At Basic, Dabani Rayo scored the game’s only goal in the second half as the Chargers edged the Wolves.

Sarah Follmer made four saves to record the shutout for Clark.

Del Sol 2, Mojave 0 — At Mojave, Mia Espinoza and Hannia Gonzalez-Parra each had a second-half goal to power the Dragons over the Rattlers.

Tech 4, SLAM Acadeny 0 — At Tech, the Roadrunners got goals from Adriana Carrillo, Alysia Mestas, Hannah Fletcher, and Gianna Mestas as they blanked the Bulls.

Samantha Elliott had two assists for Tech, which led 2-0 at halftime. Chloe Dody notched the shutout for the Roadrunners.

Desert Oasis 6, Spring Valley 0 — At Desert Oasis, Mikayla Anderson had three goals and one assist to lead the Diamondbacks past the Grizzlies.

Cortney Smith, Ana Gonzalez and Alexandra Houston each added a goal for Desert Oasis. Smith and Audrey Dunn each had two assists for the Diamondbacks.

Samantha Gato made four saves to earn the shutout.

Sierra Vista 8, Durango 0 — At Durango, Amani Felipe and Isabella Costa each scored twice to lead help the Mountain Lions top the Trailblazers.

Juliana Isaziga, Julia Plante, Jenssi Diaz and Taylor Puckett each had one goal for Sierra Vista. Puckett and Felipe each also had an assist.

Jamie Kalaau-Sunia was credited with the shutout.

Western 7, Valley 0 — At Western, Caro Acosta had a hat trick in leading the Warriors to a victory over the Vikings.

Devany Marroquin notched a goal and an assist, and Gissell Rodriguez, Estephanie Romero, and Korina Dominguez each scored a goal for Western, which scored five second-half goals.

Geraldi Gomez supplied two assists for the Warriors. Maria Yanez had three saves and picked up the shutout for Western.
