ROUNDUP: Bernal, Chargers end Mountain Lions’ late dash for playoffs

Azucena Bernal scored a 30-yard goal in the 73rd minute to give Clark’s girls soccer team a 1-0 victory at Sierra Vista on Wednesday.

Keri Thacker posted a four-save shutout for the Chargers (15-7, 10-4 Southwest League).

Sierra Vista (7-11-3, 6-6-2) could have clinched the No. 4 seed in next week’s Sunset Region playoffs with a win, but Bonanza (7-7) wrapped up the league’s final playoff spot on the last day of the regular season.

Centennial 1, Arbor View 0 — At Centennial, Bethanie Skelton scored on a penalty kick 15 minutes into the second half to help the Bulldogs edge the Aggies.

Emily Murzinski notched the shutout for Centennial.

Durango 3, Western 0 — At Durango, Abby Oliver, Bailey Allen and Mikayla Alderman each had a goal as the Trailblazers topped the Warriors.

Goalkeeper Hailee Wilson had two saves in the shutout.

Spring Valley 2, Desert Oasis 0 — At Spring Valley, Markie Henderson and Mahala Shumway each scored a first-half goal to lift the Grizzlies past the Diamondbacks.

Megan Delaney recorded two saves to pick up the shutout.

Cimarron-Memorial 5, Cheyenne 2 — At Cimarron, Brooke D’Onofrio had three goals and an assist as the Spartans rallied to top the Desert Shields.

Hailey Kirkwood added two goals and an assist, and Shirley Rivera notched two assists for Cimarron, which did all its scoring in the second half.

Mackenzie Smith had a goal and an assist for Cheyenne, which led 1-0 at the break. Jennifer Ramirez also scored for the Desert Shields.

Shadow Ridge 4, Legacy 1 — At Legacy, Vanessa Pena scored twice to lead the Mustangs past the Longhorns.

Zayna Moorman and Gabby Steinberg also scored for Shadow Ridge, which led 4-0 at halftime.

Olivia Hicks scored Legacy’s lone goal.

Bishop Gorman 5, Bonanza 0 — At Gorman, Charlotte Brascia scored twice, and Mia Moore added a goal and three assists to lead the Gaels past the Bengals.

Allie Arguello and Haley Wingender also scored for Gorman, which led 4-0 at halftime.

Kaylee Vitale recorded a four-save shutout.

Palo Verde 10, Mojave 0 — At Palo Verde, Alyssa Kleiner had a goal and three assists as the Panthers routed the Rattlers.

Tatiana Pagan added a goal and two assists for Palo Verde. Kylie Day, Jordan Fleming, Sammi Sawicki, Bri Stutz, Kori Jeffries, Kainoa Becker, Victoria DeWitt and Lauren AbuAli also scored for Palo Verde.

Sam Stockwell and Sila Tuiofea combined on the shutout.
