SOCCER: Canyon Springs boys win second straight Mesquite Cup title

Eduardo Quintero scored two goals Saturday as Canyon Springs' boys soccer team won its second straight Mesquite Cup championship with a 4-0 victory over Pahrump Valley in the title match in Mesquite.

Juan Covarrubias added a goal and an assist, and Saul Gacia also scored for the Pioneers.

Daniel Bibriesca registered the shutout for Canyon Springs.

Truckee 3, Faith Lutheran 2 — At Reno, the Wolverines nipped the Crusaders in the Howell Memorial Tournament.

Conner Frame scored two second-half goals for Faith Lutheran.

Galena 4, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Reno, the Grizzlies scored twice in each half and blanked the Crusaders in the Howell Memorial Tournament.

GIRLS

Arbor View 8, Dixie (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Utah, Sierra Vicente had two goals and an assist, and Deja Erickson added a goal and two assists as the Aggies rolled by the Flyers.

Hannah Ferrara scored twice, and Jolianna Meyers and Bailee Davis each had a goal and an assist for Arbor View, which also got a goal from Allyssa Larkin.

Haylee Niemann made two saves to preserve the shutout.

Faith Lutheran 1, Damonte Ranch 0 — At Reno, Maggie Shuirman's first-half goal allowed the Crusaders to top the Mustangs in the Howell Memorial Tournament.

Beka Lescenski made four saves to earn the shutout for Faith Lutheran.

Faith Lutheran 2, Spring Creek 0 — At Reno, the Crusaders won by forfeit in the Howell Memorial Tournament.
