ROUNDUP: Volesky’s ocho sends Falcons flying past Pirates

Christian Volesky scored eight goals Tuesday as Foothill’s boys soccer team routed visiting Moapa Valley, 13-0.

Volesky’s eight tallies are believed to be a Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association record, topping the previous mark of six first set in 2000 and matched twice. Moapa Valley’s Ashley Nevey scored 10 goals in a girls match last season.

Andy Rodriguez added four goals and two assists for the Falcons, who led 7-0 at the half.

Jesse Thomas also scored for Foothill, and Corey Philpot contributed two assists.

Brandon Rowe made five saves to earn the shutout.

Faith Lutheran 1, Rancho 1 — At Rancho, Randall Colquitt’s second-half goal allowed the Crusaders to earn a tie with the Rams.

Pedro Marquez scored a goal in the first half for Rancho.

Del Sol 1, Boulder City 0 — At Del Sol, Kevin Seralta scored a second-half goal on an assist from Jose Osorio to lead the Dragons past the Eagles.

Goalkeeper Ramon Lucio was in goal for the shutout for Del Sol.

Basic 3, Virgin Valley 1 — At Basic, Lex Freeman scored twice in the first half and once in the second half to lead the Wolves past the Bulldogs.

Valley 3, Green Valley 0 — At Valley, Carlos Flores tallied two goals as the Vikings blanked the Gators.

Salvador Martinez also scored for Valley, which led 3-0 at the half.

Jesus Barrientos made six saves to register the shutout.

Las Vegas 0, Tech 0 — At Las Vegas, the Wildcats and Roadrunners opened the season with a scoreless draw.

Abdel Rodriguez was in goal for the shutout for Tech.

Rogelio Zaragoza picked up the shutout for Las Vegas.

Coronado 4, Eldorado 1 — At Eldorado, Jeremy Habibian, Jordan Yergenson and Chance Phifer each scored a goal as the Cougars cruised past the Sundevils.

Aaron Zidales scored for Eldorado, which also put a goal in its own net.

Cheyenne 10, The Meadows 0 — At Cheyenne, Jose Manuel Martinez scored four goals, and Abel Gutierrez added three goals as the Desert Shields stormed past the Mustangs.

Jackson Collins scored twice, and Justin Mikesell had goal for Cheyenne, which had goalkeepers Daniel Diaz and Aurelio Ramirez combine on the shutout.

Centennial wins by forfeit

Centennial was a winner by forfeit over Desert Pines after the Jaguars didn’t arrive in time for the match.

GIRLS

Virgin Valley 4, Moapa Valley 0 — At Moapa Valley, Stephanie Rivera scored three goals, and Karson Bryant added a goal as the Bulldogs cruised past the Pirates.

Cassidy Crandall and Jessica Haun combined to earn the shutout.
