Roundup: Spring Valley wins defensive battle with Liberty

Miguel Rodriguez scored the game’s only goal in the 12th minute to lead Spring Valley’s boys soccer team to a 1-0 home victory over Liberty on Friday.

Robert Quaintance assisted on the goal, and Ethan Harper and Alejandro Lopez each made four saves in splitting the shutout.

Bishop Gorman 3, Western 1 — At Gorman, the Gaels scored two first-half goals to take down the Warriors.

Jeffrey Wright, Hayden Masden and Cole Malm all scored for the Gaels.

Julio Flores scored for the Warriors.

Las Vegas 2, Desert Oasis 1 — At Las Vegas High, Roberto Sotomayor and Nathan Zamora scored as the Wildcats edged the Diamondbacks.

Kyle Whittlesy scored a first-half goal for Desert Oasis.

Coronado 4, Tech 1 — At Coronado, Grant Smyth had two goals, and the Cougars scored three second-half goals to roll past the Roadrunners.

Noah Velgos and Alfredo Diaz each added a goal and an assist, and John Lynam and Justin Irungaray each had an assist for Coronado.

Gabriel Aguilar scored Tech’s goal.

SLAM Academy 2, Innovations International 2 — At SLAM Academy, Joey Marquez had a goal and an assist for the Bulls to force a draw against the Ambassadors.

Ivan Romero also scored for SLAM Academy.
