ROUNDUP: Arias’ PK save helps Valley past Desert Pines

Julio Borjas scored the lone goal of the match with 25 minutes remaining Monday, lifting Valley’s boys soccer team to a 1-0 win at Desert Pines.

Borjas, who has three straight match-winning goals, also scored the decisive goal in the final minute of the Vikings’ 2-1 home win against Chaparral on Oct. 6 and a first-half goal in a 1-0 home win over Rancho on Thursday.

Pedro Arias made one save — stopping a penalty kick in the second half — to record the shutout.

Las Vegas 1, Chaparral 0 — At Las Vegas, Joaquin Rivas scored on a penalty kick midway through the second half as the Wildcats nipped Chaparral.

Aaron Lopez earned the shutout for Las Vegas. 

Eldorado 2, Canyon Springs 1 — At Eldorado, Ruben Duran scored two minutes into the match and added the game winner with 14 minutes left in the second half to lead the Sundevils past the Pioneers.

Roger Valdez scored the lone goal for Canyon Springs.

Rancho 5, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Rancho, the Rams scored five second-half goals to down the Miners.

Jorge Lopez and Ozvaldo Cabrera each scored twice for Rancho.

Ramiro Rios added a goal and an assist, and goalkeeper Jonathan Amora had the shutout.

Centennial 3, Shadow Ridge 1 — At Centennial, Chance Rosa scored a goal and assisted on another as the Bulldogs downed Shadow Ridge.

Centennial’s Matt Kurtz scored off a penalty kick in the first half, but the Mustangs countered when Cody Fitzhugh picked up a penalty kick goal of his own after the break. Fitzhugh’s goal was the first allowed by the Bulldogs in eight matches.

Rose assisted on the winning goal by Isaac Ramirez, then followed up with a late goal of his own.

Legacy 0, Arbor View 0 — At Arbor View, the Aggies’ Richie Garness and Legacy’s Edgar Reynoso each posted a shutout in a scoreless tie.

Palo Verde 2, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Palo Verde, Shane Panther scored a first-half goal and Max Amster scored with three minutes remaining as the Panthers downed Cimarron.

Colton McCann made 10 saves for the shutout.

Cheyenne 3, Faith Lutheran 2 — At Community Park, Jose Orellana had a goal and an assist as Cheyenne nipped the Crusaders.

Brandon Moss and Heber Chavez also scored for the Desert Shields.

Wade Norman and Tyler Koerwitz had a goal apiece for Faith Lutheran.

Clark 5, Desert Oasis 0 — At Desert Oasis, Salvador Bernal scored three goals as Clark blanked the Diamondbacks.

Alfredo Araujo added two goals and an assist for the Chargers.

Oscar Gamez made four saves to record the shutout.

Spring Valley 3, Durango 2 — At Spring Valley, Nadav Elemelich’s goal with 10 minutes remaining in the match lifted the Grizzlies past Durango.

Chris Kimmich and Ricky Gonzalez also scored for Spring Valley, which had a 2-0 halftime lead.

Arjenis Bautsta and Marko Janjusic scored for Durango.

Bishop Gorman 2, Western 0 — At Gorman, Austin Cain scored a first-half goal, and Shane Thompson added a second-half tally to lead the Gaels past Western.

Jake O’Rourke recorded a shutout.

Sierra Vista 2, Pahrump Valley 1 — At Pahrump, Christian Cruz scored the winning goal with three minutes remaining to lift Sierra Vista past the Trojans.

Ivan Petrov also scored for the Mountain Lions.

Alex Morrell-Englund had Pahrump Valley’s goal.

Tech 3, Foothill 2 — At Foothill, Esteban Corona scored twice and added an assist to lead the Roadrunners over the Falcons.
Eddie Lopez also scored for Tech.

Christian Volesky and Vince Franzeo each scored for Foothill.

Silverado 1, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, Silverado’s Devin Diego and the Dragons’ Jesse Romero each scored a first-half goal as the teams played to a draw.

Green Valley 0, Coronado 0 — At Coronado, the Cougars’ Danny Sellitti and Green Valley’s Andrew Hendrickson each earned a shutout in a scoreless tie.

Basic 3, Liberty 3 — At Basic, Eric Crum had a goal and an assist to help the host Wolves earn a tie with Liberty.

Lex Freeman and Jose Flores also scored for Basic.
