BOYS SOCCER: Sierra Vista scores late to edge Virgin Valley

Stefano Villagomez scored with eight minutes left in the game Tuesday to lift Sierra Vista’s boys soccer team to a 1-0 victory over host Virgin Valley in Mesquite.

Daniel Perez had the assist on the Mountain Lions’ goal.

Sierra Vista goalkeeper Donovan McCree made two saves and notched the shutout.

Spring Valley 11, Basic 1 — At Basic, David Van Hoose had three goals and three assists, and teammate Ethan Orme had three goals and two assists to power the Grizzlies past the Wolves.

Goitem Giday had two goals for Spring Valley, and teammates Jonathan Goecke and Miguel Rodriguez each added a goal and an assist.

Brenden Kirkendall scored on an assist from Stephen De La Torre for Basic.
